Tirrena is a sleepy, old-fashioned coastal town, yet our coincidental discovery of 231 made our stop-over there more than worthwhile. We had already tried steamed mussels in Brussels, US East and West coasts, the Hague, Palermo, Barcelona and a whole variety of other places taking pride in their seafood; yet none of them came close to the taste and freshness of Tirreno 231âs little bucket full of them. This was a true feast and we have enjoyed every piece of it. Fried calamari and shrimps platter that followed was equally outstanding. When we met the chef (and the owner), we knew all this was not by accident â a chef to have cooked for long years in New York, Rio de Janeiro, Brussels and other cities around the world and to have come back to enjoy his hometown. His lovely (Irish) wife is a further bonus for English speakers struggling with the Italian names of ingredients. Thank you both, for a seafood feast dinner to be remembered for years to comeâ¦

We mainly offer our guests a typical maritime cuisine, combining tradition and innovation, but never altering our first choice and extremely fresh ingredients. Our main concern is to offer an excellent selection of local meat and cheese paired with a rich
Our only evening in Pisa was spent in this excellent restaurant. All the staff/owner were very friendly but not in your face. All meals were cooked to order and were delicious. The swordfish, which two of our ordered, was perfectly cooked with a tomato, caper and olive sauce as was the sea bream baked in a potato crust and the risotto with scallops and whisky was exceptional. It even came with a small glass if whisky. The deserts were very Italian and just perfect. I can not recommend this restaurant more...miss it miss out!

Visited on a Tuesday evening in February. Only a few other people in the place so not a lot of atmosphere. It's a typical small osteria with a limited menu but the food was excellent. The stuffed squid was superb and the lamb chops perfectly cooked. A lovely meal and very reasonably priced.

Located a short walk from Piazza dei Miracoli, opposite to the door Lucca outside walls, the restaurant is characterized by the combination of rustic and elegance. Intimates, ever crowded, in different environments is perceived harmony between hospitality
Is a traditional Italian restaurant, run by an entire family. The food is unbelievable good and tasty. We started with Toscana soup and continued with some traditional cooked pasta. I am the biggest fan of Tiramisu, and I like to try it everywhere I travel. I tried here as well, and I can say with my heart that was the best Tiramisu I ever eat. The hosts looked after us and helped us with the Italian language. I strongly recommend this restaurant to all who wants to spend some quality time with dear ones in a special place.

Excellent food but the restaurant lacked a little atmosphere. If you are not a regular sushi eater it would help if there was some visual guidance. We worked out what dishes were what with the help of google. I know I know but we have always had other people order for us. The food was truly excellent, the presentation was good and the service attentive and understanding. I canât tell you all of what we had but have attached a picture of a couple of dishes. Worth a visit.

This is a small but excellent fish restaurant in the center of Pisa. We liked the fact that we were able to see the kitchen preparing our dishes. Fair priced and excellent quality in particular the grilled tuna and salmon were delicious. We would certainly like to come back.

In a nice and welcoming location you will taste high quality Italian food with a unique view on the river Arno.
Easily the best restaurant I experienced in my time throughout Italy. My husband and I found this place on a win. We were driving to another restaurant when we drove by and impulsively stopped the car to give it a try. Wow did we find a gem! I traveled to Rome, Florence, and small countryside towns of Tuscany. Nothing was nearly as good as Il Tocco. The owner and chef was so passionate about the food and it was seen through the spectacular presentation and tasted in the amazing way all the flavors came together. The co owner also took the time to talk with his before, during, and after the meal showing his utmost appreciation for our patronage. I wish I could go here everyday not only for the quality food, but for the friendly and inviting atmosphere. If you are in Pisa you have to go here!
