Soul Food Renaissance (formerly LBJ's Fine Foods) got started back in 1993 by migrants from the great state of Texas. The vibe here is a folksy and friendly one. Our specialties are fresh fish, Texas style BBQ, and authentic soul food.
My husband and I went to the Soul Food Renaissance restaurant after church. This was our first time going there. We had eaten the food before at a crew and actors lunch catered by this restaurant. The food was so good we had to go to the restaurant. We were not disappointed. From the time we walked in it was friendly, warm, cozy, clean and comfortable. The food was delicious!! The soul food taste like home made. There is a huge variety from which to choose from. No need to add salt or pepper. Fresh lemonade is provided, or you a get sweet tea. The dinner plate has enough food for two servings. We could not eat everything in one sitting. We took food home with desert.
I love the fried chicken at Louisiana Fried Chicken. There are other offerings, like fish and shrimp, but I really enjoy the chicken. The crust is crunchy, just the way I like it. Food tastes fresh. Value is excellent! If you like it hotter, spice it up!

Okay - I was very disappointed the last time we were there, last Thursday around 5:30. I had been wanting Maine lobster for a while. The waitress said, "oh, they ate all the lobster." At 5:30? The Red Lobster was OUT OF LOBSTER!!!! That did not set well with me. But, the waitress was the best! She pointed out a meal I did enjoy and hubby enjoyed his! But, I sure hope the next time we walk in that Maine Lobster is still in the water!
