Alhóndiga Reforma, it's a beautiful place in the Historic Center from Oaxaca City. You will find food and drinks with the best service and comfort.
Unique gourmet marketAfter two weeks in Oaxaca & Sierra Norte some of my friends were craving a good burger. We found Alhondiga Reforma gourmet food market to be a perfect spot for everyone. Itâs next-door to L'olla on Reforma. This modern, cool space consists of a dozen upscale food eateries, wine, mazcal, cerveza, and gourmet to go products. Initially you browse around and get an idea of what type of food you would like. Then after you are seated a waiter will take your order for food and beves. Some of our group had amazing hamburgers with fresh soft buns [unheard of in Oaxaca] while others tried tasty brisket mini tacos. The concept is unique in this town and we hope itâs a success. The staff works hard and the variety is terrific. Quality is first rate. They just need more customers and better marketing. The website has no English and the only people there were gringos. Some other customers stopped to chat with us on their way out and ordered a bottle of Chardonnay to go. They chilled it, opened the bottle, packaged it and the cost was the same as the corner store. Totally accommodating.

The best seafood restaurant in the city! With the freshest fish and seafood. More than 25 years of experience support us and our quality and taste distinguish us from the competition
First off, it closes at 7pm, so don't plan on a late dinner here. Shrimp were cooked properly, but were not deveined. I had the shrimp wrapped in bacon, while my wife had the breaded fried shrimp. The shrimp were fresh and had a good flavor. As I recall, the plate came with rice and a nice fresh salad. There was a nice beer selection. They have a seafood buffet on the weekends.

We dined at Oaxacalifornia a couple evenings ago and we found the food pricey but excellent. This restaurant is part of the same company that owns Casa Oaxaca Hotel, Casa Oaxaca Restaurant, and Cafe Casa Oaxaca. So the menu here has lots of shades of the menus at the other restaurants. The distinguishing characteristic is a broad range of seafood dishes, fitting their tag line for the restaurant: Mar.Maiz.Mezcal. And the menu includes the "mexcalinis" made famous at Cafe Casa Oaxaca. There were also some meat dishes and some veggie dishes, especially among the long list of appetizers. The restaurant is located on the third floor of a building in a strange location: amid Oaxaca's automobile sales and service agencies in the far South of the city. True, it is an area that has no other decent restaurants, but it also has much street noise.

Like others have said, there isn't much for ambience but I believe it was certainly made up for in value and quality. It was extremely inexpensive (120 pesos) for shrimp soup, fish enchiladas, dessert and a beer. The restaurant is packed with locals for lunch. The server was responsive and very pleasant.
