Ningbo (Chinese: 宁波; Mandarin pronunciation: [nǐŋ pwó] ( listen)), formerly written Ningpo, is a sub-provincial city in northeast Zhejiang province in China. It comprises the urban districts of Ningbo proper, three satellite cities, and a number of rural counties including islands in Hangzhou Bay and the East China Sea. Its port, spread across several locations, is among the busiest in the world and the municipality possesses a separate state-planning status. As of the 2010 census, the entire administrated area had a population of 7.6 million, with 3.5 million in the six urban districts of Ningbo proper. To the north, Hangzhou Bay separates Ningbo from Shanghai; to the east lies Zhoushan in the East China Sea; on the west and south, Ningbo borders Shaoxing and Taizhou respectively.

This is an ideal place to try local cuisine for affordable prices. It is located at the end of a lake side promenade and offers river and sea fish, as well as traditional Chinese menu containing Peking duck or Kungpao. It is important to book the table in advance otherwise you'll have to wait.

I tried a few dishes, the prawn was horrible, waited for a long time and tasted horrible.The 2 dishes recommended: (1) Spare Ribs is excellent (2) Chicken is nice.The thing is, the kitchen not even bother to make up the dish a bit, like putting some green vegetable along with the meat, they just present the foods in the raw form, no decoration at all. (see my picture)Environment is not bad.A bit pricy. Not the cheapest. RMB 236 for 2 person.

Wow! One of the best dinners that we have ever had. We have been in this restaurant at least 4 or 5 times and the experience is superb! We even celebrated Thanksgiving and Christmas and they never dissapoint us. Their staff is without a doubt the best in the world! Amazing customer service! They have an excellent team in charge of providing you with a personalized and unique experience. I experienced the same in Shanghai so I guess it is a constant in the Shangri-La Hotels. However, the Ningbo one is beyond good! They even remember my food preferences and allergies. For me this is a plus!The food is amazing and the prices are ad hoc to the Hotel´s quality. The wine selection is good. The music is really good as well. They have live music with a really good couple. Both perform really well and the music is according to the restaurant style. We have experienced terrible singers in other Hotels, but this is definetely not the case in this Restaurant. Really good songs selections as well. It is not a noisy or crowed place and they do not have kids running from side to side, which helps when you are enjoying a romantic or businness dinner. The size is perfect to enjoy a nice dinner or meal.Their staff speaks english, which helps us a lot since our mandarin is not that good. This seafood restaurant was really good. I like the fact that I could "prepare" the meal by myself, picking whatever I wanted to eat. There was many things I could pick from. A lot of fish, crabs, squids, even snakesâ¦.., but they have also regular meet too. Quickly prepared in the kitchen and served on my table, tasted very well.This is very good place for seafood lovers. Itâs a big place, takes two floors.I strongly recommend this restaurant.RomanP

We have eaten here twice since attending the Canton Fair was the way and the food has been excellent fresh & tasty The service is also very good the staff attending us had a smile and were very attentive The Tuna handrolls are sensational the Sushi is fresh & amazing texture & flavor

This is one of the most expensive Restaurants in Ningbo, so we were expecting an excellent service, good quality of the food and great presentation of every dish. The cuttlery is old or in very bad condition and dirty. The forks are bended and the spoons as well. They do not wash properly the glasses and the variety of drinks is really poor. Make sure you desinfect your plate, glass and chopsticks as in the restaurants down the street - this is very poor for a restaurant of that supposed standard. The service is really poor and only in Chinese. They do not have any staff member who speaks English, so if you do not have any person who can translate for you, do not even try it.They have private rooms, not a single room with multiple tables, so we were expecting privacy. However, each room is only divided by panels, so the place is really loud and there is no sense of privacy. The furniture is very old and torn. The chairs are not even comfortable anymore. Some dishes are ok, but the fish does not come cut, so be aware that local fishes have tiny bones and everywhere. Seafood is ok but I do not recommend eating any chicken dish. The seafood and fish is fresh, you can always chose it living from big tanks. Unfortunately, the local kitchen drains and drowns everything in grease and oil. Therefore even the freshest fish and shells will end up tasting like tin food on your plate - if you are lucky and the amount of portions on the plate is sufficient to be wheeled once around the rotating round dining table. If you look for local kitchen, be aware that here you are signing up for a festival of reheated oil.If you have a businnes meeting or want to try local food, go to another place, your guests will appreciate it.

fois gras was too good, we added another plate. kids menu with fish and chips was succulent. goat cheese salad was well balanced. mussels cooked in cream and white wine was exactly what we were waiting for. pan fried soles, 2 bottles of wine, creamy butter, creme caramel are other things we ordered and none was disappointing. of course the delicious french fresh and chewy bread baskets were as good as the other dishes. 10 sur 10 ! too bad we forgot to take any picture as we were just so happy to eat !Thank you very much for your nice comment. It was a pleasure to have you as our guests yesterday evening.We are looking forward to welcoming you again at Le Resto :)

I came with my wife's family for a celebratory buffet dinner and was not disappointed. The quality of the food is very high, things like cheesecake and panna cotta (labelled as creme brulee strangely) were done well which is rare in China. There was an enormous range of choice, from fresh prawns to wood-fired pizza to BBQ lamb kebabs, from a range of soups to 6 varieties of ice cream. A slight criticism would be that some of the stir fried vegetables had merely been shown the pan, not really fried enough, and of course the price-tag was 5* so virtually 300 kuai per head.
