Excellent and speedy service. The staff were fantastic. Great alcohol selection. The fish and chips were excellent! Very tasty! The chips and mushy peas were great! Lovely presentation. The sticky toffee pudding however did contain cinnamon which we did not like. Will return and recommend to everyone.

Situated in the heart of Castlewellan in County Down, Maginns is steeped in history. Owned by the Maginn family since 1919 and now run by the third generation, this bustling bar is perfect for delicious bistro dining, catching up with friends over a drink

Good Home Cooked Food at affordable prices. Open for breakfast, lunch and evening meals/delicious homemade desserts, tray bakes and scones. Daily specials, low fat menu, gluten free options, groups catered for by pre-order.
After hearing all good reviews about the restaurant we as a family decided to give it a go. After waiting 35 minutes outside for a table while other people who were behind us were taken first because there was two of them and there was three of us which should not happen. We finally got a table. Ordered our food which was lovely and then decided that we would have a dessert. We all tried to make eye contact with waiter/ waitresses with no success. After waiting 25 minutes for someone to take a dessert order we gave up. When paying we made it clear we were not happy. The staff were all standing behind the counter offering each other cups of tea/coffee. Not good customer service at all.Thank you for your review - there is absolutely no excuse for what happened to yous - we as management are always telling our staff to get out on the floor and make sure our customers are being properly looked after -we have always prided ourselves on excellent customer service. I have addressed this with my staff this morning and will continue to monitor how they are doing - this is one thing I am passionate about. Again thank you for bringing it to my attention.

Worst chips ever. Rock hard and painful to eat. Most ended up in the bin because they were totally inedible. I think they must cook the chips once and then throw them back in later when you order. The staff/owner should try eating some themselves. Cook them once and they will be edible.
