Great location, atop the Fish Market. Locely seafaring decor with some beautiful model boats. Excellent and attentive personnel, always keeping an eye out for you. But the food.........very disappointing. Starters were fussy and overworked, too much sauce and too many frills - why not let the fish speak for itself. The mains were poor: a Bouillabaise was not authentic - it was just a bowl of their fish soup with a few pieces of overcooked white fish (of indeterminate taste) floating in it, a few old mussels, and some croutons that had been fried about a month ago that were hard enough to crack your teeth. A travesty of what this iconic dish really stands for. A 42-euro Main of 'Lobster and Turbot" was parsimonious in the lobster department, and the crustacean seemed to have been cooked a lot earlier. The place deserves better people in the kitchen.

After reading the reviews of the place. We decided to go with 5 people to this place. Waitress was very patient and answered all the questions we had.She was the highlight of the evening. We ordered 4 cocktails and a bottle of water . Two âï¸ cocktails were good. The other two way too sweet. I think I lost a filling or two.Starters were good. The terrine de poisson, fish terrine, was great. The other three, not sure if they wereMain course was the disappointment and the reason for the low rating.Gambas were a bit off, and they were not properly cooked. The brochette Coquilles with the gambas was a complete disaster. Tasted like these were defrosted in a microwave and quickly served.Steak tartar was served with French fries which were too greasy and not even well friedEscalope de dinde ( no picture) suffered from the same problem. Fries were bad. Came with a mushroom sauce which was not mentioned on the menu. After the main course we were asked if we wanted a coffee or dessert. No thank youIf not for the waitress this place would be given a even lower

Le Chatillon restaurant in the heart of Boulogneâs Capecure attracts everyone in town for the freshest of fish and great atmosphere. The bubbling ground floor dining room will remind you of the interior of an antique fishing vessel with wooden bar, pictur
Needing a very late breakfast/early lunch (11.15) I remembered the strange hours at this simply excellent fish restaurant. The tempting daily lunch menu was not due to start till midday but I soon found the Boulonnais Breakfast which looked just what was needed. Light baguette, butter, jam, perfect freshly squeezed orange juice & lovely coffee started breakfast, but it segued into a lovely light lunch with a plate of 4 local smoked fish - 2 kinds of herring, pepper mackerel, salmon - with warm potatoes & mustard dressing, slice of white toast, creme fraiche with chives, lemon wedge. If I had been earlier it would have concluded with a pastry - but they had run out so I finished with more coffee. A perfect solution to my problem and would definitely do it again. Sit inside for atmosphere, though the glass-case part is very clean and fresh.

We'd booked about 6 weeks ahead, and were rewarded with the table with the best view. Nice aspect onto the sea, with a cat precariously going over the local buildings ! The food was very good and very fresh, and the service was efficient if perhaps a tad slow (fine if you're not in a hurry). Would definitely revisit.

A very good evening here during October half term with the family. The food was generally top quality... especially Les modules et frites which there were plenty of and which were packed with flavour. My steak wasn't the best cut of meat but again the flavour was good; rich and deep. A good range of local beers is available and the owner is good fun when describing them to you! Felt very welcome and well looked after despite my clumsy stuttering French!

Visited midweek, lunchtime, in October. We were there at midday and got the last table. Service was friendly and efficient. Food was good and portions generous to say the least, with a little treat to start. Possibly would need a microscope to find any fault the day we visited.
