Find out what Seafood restaurants to try in Maputo. Maputo, the lush capital of Mozambique, sits on the shore of the Indian Ocean. Founded as a port town by the Portuguese, the influence of travelers and traders from Africa, Asia, and Europe, has made the city a diverse and lively metropolis. The area is famous for its prawns in peri-peri sauce, a spicy concoction made from an especially hot African chili pepper. Calm down your taste buds afterwards with a beer at one of the many bars and nightclubs in the Fere de Populare neighborhood.

A simple objective; we wanted prawns for lunch. Nicely grilled, succulent prawns. Tender, fleshy prawns. Enough to satisfy the tastebuds & sate one until the evening. And Ocean Maputo delivered the goods in full & to perfection. A couple of Manica beers to wash them down, friendly service & a relaxed environment on the terrace. Mission accomplished. Great stuff!!

Went there on a Saturday with a visitor. Excellent service, very attentive staff, making suggestions and trying to help you really well. Good food and beer, glasses come from the fridge as it needs to be done. Seafood very well prepared. You sit in a deck, almost in the beach and your view - in addition to the beach - is the bay of Maputo and Maputo City skyline. Recommend!

By-the-seaside gourmet restaurant with very good service. Food is special and carefully prepared. The flavors involved are sumptuous at their worst! Amazing!

The food purchased from the market and cooked at a restaurant was nice - but I highly recommend to go elsewhere. As a tourist I was there with two locals and even still when the restaurant bill arrived (after buying Fish from the market) EVERYTHING was charged more than the menu, up to double! It was a blatant attempt to steal from us and we had to ânegotiateâ for half an hour to get the prices back to what was on the menu, and of course argue over the weight of the fish theyâd cooked for us even tho weâd just seen the weight on a scale when purchased. If you do come here (which I donât recommend) make sure you see the menu before ordering and KEEP that menu as otherwise when the bill arrives the prices will likely be higher and youâll be show a different menu at that time to account for the higher prices.Of course not all the restaurants might be like this; but Iâd guess there are.Just as good food elsewhere for equal or better value and much, much less hassle. When leaving I pointed to the revised bill saying to the waiter that this is why Iâll be recommending not to visit here, and he just laughed. So definitely not recommended.

Went with the family to have lunch on a Sunday. The place was about 80% full. The service was acceptable but the food was very poor. The calamari was dry and chewy and my steak was bad. Tasteless, dry and pretty dull. Which is quite hard to achieve on a medium rare steak! Actually tasted like microwave food!!!Disappointing!

This place is lovely. The selection of wine is great, the cocktails are fabulous but I was disappointed with the food. The veggie lasagne was poor, rather like a microwave meal back home. Given the high quality of everything else - this was disappointing. I will definitely go back and try something else.Thank you for the constructive criticism we will have a look at that.Sergio de Oliveira
