Went for lau lau, but young lady said we don't serve that anymore. They need to update their website menu. Decided to have the chicken long rice. Far from the customary Hawaiian chicken long rice dish. Totally disappointed because not even close. After she collected my money she said it will take 25 to 30 minutes. I would have gone somewhere else if I knew ahead of time. But decided to wait. Saw customers come and leave when they heard about the wait time. Customers leaving didn't seem to bother young lady and reacted like it was no big deal...sad.

Once again this trip, we ate at Toro Tei more than once. While the menu doesn't have as many items as some others, the consistency in terms of both preparation and plating makes it our favorite. It is consistently fresh, correctly sliced and prepped to maximize both flavor and texture, always attractive plating. It's a little bit more expensive than some other places, but not bad for being a hotel based restaurant. We often opt for sashimi given the high grade of fish and consistent just-caught freshness. Add most pleasant staff and sushi chef, and one has a great dining experience.

A store clerk recommended Keoki's. It was raining. We looked at several other nearby restaurants, which we eliminated for various reasons. So we kind of settled on Keoki's and were not disappointed. The portions were not excessive. We both had fish entrees which were quite good.

OK, there is a star off for "ambience" as it looks like a convenience store, but in truth the food is excellent. My son, wife, and I all had various selections of poke and these amazing balls (basically like maki but with more of a sweet wrap). The fish is not over-flavored, e.g. you can actually taste that it's fresh fish. The food is reasonably priced and the staff were very helpful and patience with hungry and indecisive customers (e.g. us). We'd eat there again in a heartbeat. The food was so good we didn't even take it home, just ate it in the car in the parking lot. We even went back after we were done for a few items we liked and took them home.

Other than our friendly waitress, this was a wasted chunk of dough. Food looked and tasted like it was all straight out of the box. Zero flavor on any of our plates. Place was empty. Youâd be much better off taking a few steps next door to âDukeâsâ.

Wonderful setting, great service, wonderful food and salad bar is worth getting. Although we were stuffed, 4 of us split the Hula Pie as it had been suggested by a friend. Absolutely delicious and because we were now way over full, we strolled the grounds of the Marriot and the beach and it was delightful. We ate at the upstairs restaurant.

Fish Express Market is across the street from Walmart. The parking lot can accommodate about 5 cars. Our family runs in to get Kim Chee Cucumbers and Shoyu (Soy Sauce) Ahi Poke to munch on when we first get to Kauai. They also have rice balls wrapped in nori (musubis). Easy in and out. Deli style glass case. Nice people!
