We are a seafood market specializing in âthe freshest fish in the Districtâ. We have an extremely broad selection of traceable sustainably-caught fresh whole fish, fillets, shellfish, and more. Smoked fish (lox, trout, whitefish, etc) is producer on-site
We had gone a year or two ago and loved it. I was trying to eat healthy, and smoked fish sounded good, so we went back. Sunday they had their brunch menu, which also looked good, and at the bottom it was printed "see full menu for..." so I asked the server if we could get the smoked fish platter. Yay! Delaney, our server was fantastic. Platter, $26, was a feast! Lox, peppered salmon, North Carolina smoked trout, salmon candy, whitefish salad, plus cream cheese, horseradish cream sauce, tomatoes, onions, cucumbers, capers and two fresh, large bagels (we had pumpernickel and "everything." We also got a side of hash browns ($6) which were yummy, diced potatoes with red pepper and onion. Music (Outkast, I asked, and Delaney joked "that's so old") was kind of loud, but fun. Surrounding area looks better than it did when we first came there. Had a nice conversation with an area resident when we left. This was a great feast for two that we both loved, and yes, very health (well, minus the hash browns, but oh, well.)Yay Delaney! She's great. Thanks so much for taking the time to write such a glowing review.Don't wait another year to return!
This small storefront establishment (12 ft. wide but deep) is for take-out fish, shrimp, crabs (Blue Crabs - Chesapeake Bay, of course), seafood sandwiches and platters. There are a couple of chairs for those who are waiting for their seafood to be prepared or gathered. No eating room at the establishment.Parking out front is ample and your best approach is to order your items beforehand and they will be ready when you arrive. So then it is a quick in and out. This was my first visit in years and I wanted crabs. This day, prices, as posted on an erase board, - 1/2 dozen live or cooked crabs ran from $18 (regular) to $50 (jumbo). 5 or 6 different sizes.I ordered 6 regular and they threw in an extra one for me. They cooked them from scratch so my wait was 25 minutes. I didn't observe any already cooked crabs waiting around for a customer's purchase, as others have mentioned. I was there a little after 12 noon.I also ordered a Whiting sandwich with all the trimmings on a large hamburger bun @ $7.50. It contained a lot of fish and was excellent. At home, I found the crabs to be 6" point to point, coated with Old Bay seasoning, and cooked just right - not overcooked as you sometimes might find. I enjoyed them with my special spiced apple cider vinegar, a squirt of Japanese mirin (low alcohol naturally sweetened rice wine), with a small touch of some KC dry rub spices added. Great taste with the crabs. The people at the counter were very personable.I would suggest going to their website to look at all the offerings on the menu and place your order *by phone* which then will be prepared for you and ready when you arrive.
As a fan of local Japanese Steakhouses, I was excited to realize that there was one so close to home in the Woodmore Shopping Centre. Well, we were immediately seated and our drink order was placed. Then, I was asked for my food order within 60 seconds of being seated. I had barely gotten settled and opened the menu. But, whatever. I ordered the Hibachi Steak Entree. Or so I thought. After about 10 minutes, Johnny the Chef came out and began our entrees. The fried rice was made... Then the noodles and veggies hit the grill. Wait a minute... Where were the soups and salads? I started to doubt my order. Maybe this hibachi chain did things differently. Then I watched 2 other tables get both soup and salad. So, I asked Johnny. Since our server had vanished, the CHEF had to ask the MANAGER. So, rice was on MOST plates, veggies and noodles were cooking and we had two separate servers (still not our initial server) bring out lukewarm soup and salads simultaneously. I, however, had ordered STEAMED rice and was still waiting for it as my veggies and noodles were added to the plate and the proteins were cooking. When my steak was placed on my plate, I got the managers attention - yeah, the guy in the white shirt who already knew our service had been compromised - and he brought my little bowl of steamed rice from the kitchen. Another couple at the table had to ask this same manager for a second round of drinks at the server was still MIA. By now, I'm expecting the manager go offer the table a discount, a complimentary drink, gift card, anything?? Suddenly, our original server blows out of the kitchen and snatches my boyfriends soda glass for a refill. She then works on refills on another table before asking the others, myself included, if we needed anything. I just wanted a water since my adult beverage had long been gone. The chef finishes, we tip him in cash and the meal commences. The server has ghosted again and we have to ask the manager (white shirt guy) for to go Containers. Then our little server chick has the audacity to bring our checks - for full price. At the same time, the Appetizers another couple ordered arrived - after the late soup, the late salad, the entire entree, and even the check. At least server girl was quick enough to remove that from their bill. I was still angry having had to ask for the soup salad, AND my rice. So I took my $81.00 bill and requested some reciprocation from Mr.White shirt. He snatched my bill and offered me a $10 discount. Basically, he covered my drink. I told the other parties at my table and they too asked for reciprocation. One of the couples explained that they were seated, then asked to move and if we did not like their service it was "their policy" to add gratuity to the bill. Well, all I can say is after this experience I will happily drive north to Fuji or Dakota or south to Hanabi as this experience left a sour taste in my mouth. Everyone at the table agreed that we should have gone somewhere else. Especially if your policy is horrid service.

If you are a seafood lover, stop by HooK and Reel in the Woodmore Town Center. There is a variety of choices on the menu. If you like crabs, you can buy theme by the dozen or the bushel served at your table. I had the crab soup and salad and it was excellent. You can really get "hooked" on seafood at the Hook and Reel

We attended a luncheon at Martin's Crosswinds and the food was good but the service can improve. Our table wasn't given dessert, we had to remind the waiter that we didn't receive cake, after 30 minutes we finally received the cake. The facility was very clean and was in a great location,

Great fish, lots of selections, sides were terrific, so was dessert. There was enough food for lunch for two. Perfectly prepared, this place is great! It sits in front of a shopping center with Value City and Advance Auto Parts. It's nothing fancy but the food is the star here.

SoBe Restaurant and Lounge features a South Beach inspired atmosphere with a wide ranging menu prepared in our Scratch Kitchen. Our French-trained Chef, Christ Lanydrek, has an amazing menu prepared to satisfy every palate. Featuring Crab Cakes, Oxtails,
My daughter organized a mother's-daughter's dinner at SoBe Saturday night on the 3rd of November. There were 6 of us. It was our first time coming. The place is beautifully decorated. While we waited for our party, I noticed some folks were turned away. Apparently some of the young men had on tennis shoes. They don't allow that for Saturday night. I'm good with that. Folks need to learn to dress up every now and then. Any way, on one side was the restaurant and the other the bar and lounge. We were on the restaurant side, but you can fully hear the live band. And when that band played, ALL conversation ceased as it was very loud. In between band sets, good old school music was piped in through the speakers. Frankly, that was all I needed. But I do love a live band, but not when I'm eating and trying to converse. They had a fabulous menu! I love oxtails but I am very funny about them. Not everyone can make them right, and coming from a West Indian background, I decided to pass on them. My girlfriend got them and gave me a piece, but she had to exchange it. It wasn't up to our standards. As a matter of fact, if they let my friend cook them, that would be all people eat. She can really punish some oxtails to perfection! Any way, our daughters all got the shrimp and grits. I am prone to gout, so I couldn't eat the shrimp. But those grits!!!!! OMG. Sooooooo good. Next time I go, I'm going to see if they let me get salmon and grits. Its not on the menu, but if you don't ask, the answer is definitely "no". We all got and shared appetizers. Mussels, catfish fingers, burgers sliders, and lobster bites. Nice hot rolls with that good butter you can never find in the store, lol. For dinner I got the $29 pork chop. And I mean chop singular. It was thick, juicy, and well cooked. It was incredible. No complaints. Loved the light sauce which kissed the vegetables and garlic mash, and added to their taste. And we had the best waiter. Cute young guy with dreds pulled back into a pony tail. Wish I could remember his name. Very nice and patient young man. He had an awful lot of tables but served us well. (PLEASE NOTE: Check bill. Gratuity was added even though the bottom of the bill asks if you'd like to give a gratuity.)In any even, I absolutely loved this place. I plan to go again but not when there is a live band. But it was not a deal breaker.
