Kingston is a city in and the county seat of Ulster County, New York, United States. It is 91 miles (146 km) north of New York City and 59 miles (95 km) south of Albany. It became New York's first capital in 1777, and was burned by the British on October 13, 1777, after the Battles of Saratoga. In the 19th century, the city became an important transport hub after the discovery of natural cement in the region, and had both railroad and canal connections. Passenger rail service has since ceased, and many of the older buildings are part of three historic districts, such as the Stockade District uptown, the Midtown Neighborhood Broadway Corridor, and the Rondout-West Strand Historic District downtown.

Walking along the picturesque Kingston /Rondout downtown we found this restaurant, which we had already read good recommendations about it plus it was also recommended to us by a local. It positively met all the expectations! Pretty restaurant, refined, small, with outdoor seating. Full bar with a nice wine menu. Interesting food menu with specials every day. Check out their specials and take advantage of them, they are great! We decided for the early dinner special, which ends at 6pm. 3 courses with delicious choices for each. Hefty portions. Good deal for your money. The steak salad was outstanding, one of the best ever had. The tiramisu, which I usually do not like, was one of the best ever had. Our female server was very helpful, knowledgeable, and genuinely friendly.

Mariner's Harbor is located at 1 Broadway in Kingston and is adjacent to the Kingston City Marina on the beautiful Rondout Creek. Enjoy dining either on the glassed in deck, the outdoor patio or the dining room.
We spent the afternoon walking around the Riverfront/Rondout section and immediately this older, stately restaurant (and building) caught my eye.....If I didn't know better, I'd think we were in New Orleans. It's large, open, airy and comfortable. Nothing fancy, but what an atmosphere. Substitute and ocean for the river and you're on vacation in the old south. We decided to have a couple drinks but the bar was pretty crowded. No problem; they also have a large outdoor bar where we sat for a drink overlooking the river. We then went inside and had an additional drink and a couple of appetizers. We split the Little Necks on the half shell and the crab cakes; both were quite good. We decided to try another place for dinner, but my next trip here will definitely be here. I love the big, open friendly laid back atmosphere!Thank you very much for your feedback and we are delighted that you enjoyed your recent visit to Mariner's Harbor on the Kingston Waterfront.

We had a little mix up on New Year's Eve regarding seating, but the management there was very accommodating. I soon realized that the error was mine and went back to speak with the manager. "Nothing to worry about, have a Happy New Year"We are seated at a very nice corner table with a view of the outside and nearly the entire interior. Being people watchers, it was ideal.Drinks came, perfect. Not an overabundance of ice, what I would call a healthy pour.As this was our first visit we both went for a combo plate to get a good sampling of the menu. DELICIOUS! It seemed to take us forever to get to the bottom of the plates. This is a very local place, with lot's of "hey there" and "look who it is". but we were not let out the festivities as the gentleman and I at the next table started to wonder why so many fire trucks were going by. This evolved into a friendly 5 table discussion. Great fun on New Year's Eve. Coming back soon to check out the "downstairs" !Thanks!

I have eaten here before and nothing bad to say but went there last night and I don't know what happened. The biscuits didn't taste the same and seems like they want to give you less only brought out 3 and when they bring you more is three at a time (one in a half for wife and me) at a time. I see that they are not part of Darin chain anymore, I wonder if the quality changed too. The service wasn't that good either. Took a while to get it then once we got it the waiter never checked to see how everything was never refilled my drink. I will check out another Red Lobster and see if it's just this one or did they all change.
