An award-winning pub situated in the coastal village of Beesands in between Dartmouth and Kingsbridge. Focussing on serving fresh local seafood, Josper grilled steaks, fine wines, local ales and ciders. Large restaurant with door that open in the summer.
On the rainiest day of our stay in Devon we called in for a coffee before our walk. As the rain continued we enjoyed the coffee in smart surroundings, and were well entertained looking at the photos of old Beesands.Eventually the rain stopped, and after a successful walk to Start Point and back we returned here for a pot of tea, very nice.Thank you for your review, we are pleased that you stopped by on a rainy day and we could offer you some warmth and a chance to fuel yourself ahead of your walk. We hope to see you again.

Welcome to Britannia @ The Beach home of fantastically fresh local seafood - affectionately known as 'The Shack'. Here at The Shack we offer a combination of a traditional fishmonger, village stores and a unique rustic cafe/restaurant.
My goodness, book here without delay. And youâll certainly need to. Wet windy night when we went but still packed mid week. An absolutely fabulous âSpecialsâ menu alongside an innovative a la crate printed choice. The worst part was choosing. I went for hake, tempura battered samphire , served on a bed of delicious roasted fennel. A choice of potatoes was served separately. The dish was cooked to perfection. As was everyone elseâs on our table. Simple things like fish and chips or scampi and chips also available. The scampi was enjoyed by one and the seafood pasta another hit. A real local gem. Thank goodness we have friends locally who knew about it. Best meal in a very long time. Bring your own drinks and pay a small corkage. They have cracked it here and Iâll be looking out for awards heading their way.

So close to the beach you can have lunch in your swimsuit, the Winking Prawn sits just over the road from North Sands in Salcombe. Welcoming visitors for more than 20 years, our particular brand of shabby chic beach restaurant always buzzes with activity
Had a meal here and the food and service was really good. Considering it was a wet October evening the restaurant was buzzy and I suspect iit is very busy in the summer. Donât miss the chance to go here

Decided to go âupmarketâ and enjoy the in-house dining experience at Fryer Tucks, what a bloody marvellous evening. Our host was a delight, cheerful, chatty, amusing and an outrageous flirt..........Hans you are a legend. The food was of course quite wonderful and we enjoyed all three courses. Took our own Prosecco in a cool bag so good booze guaranteed. This place is like something out of the 70âs with great music by Acker Bill, Frank Sinatra etc and none of the modern rubbish. Highly recommended but be open minded and let yourself enjoy this totally unique experience

Waterside brasserie serving Local Fish, Shellfish and West Country Beef with a fusion twist! Large outside decking area directly overlooking the beautiful Salcombe Estuary.
Two visits aborted due to the restaurant just closing their doors when they feel like it. No notice given on website or at the door. Suggest you try the more amenable South Sands Hotel where the concept of opening a restaurant at meal times has been embraced.

I really enjoyed my time here, all be it short. I stayed here overnight and enjoyed every last second. The manager (Tim) is a great bloke, and the bartender (I cannot remember her name) was equally fantastic! I also had the honour of meeting a couple of local people, who were friendly and welcoming alike. The room was great, being clean and well kept. I had plenty of room to move, and it was quiet. I was told of the amazing breakfast, but sadly missed it due to the previous nights merriment! (Sorry Tim).I will definitely stay here again if I come this way.

A fantastic lunch once again! Disappointed that due to recent wet weather we were under cover in the outside area and not completely outside but was very pleased with the atmosphere, fantastic food, attentive staff ( and with our 2 dogs) and overall experience . Would highly recommend this special place!

The same family run business, serving beautifully prepared, fresh local fish has moved to an exciting new location. Located above The Kings Arms with a breathtaking views of the harbour and a complete refurbishment, many of your old favourites will be on
Picked this speciality fish restaurant based on the trip advisor rating and positive reviews. Sadly our experience didn't match. We loved the décor & ambience, the concept of choosing 3 fish (pan) or 6 fish (platter), choice of accompaniments and sides and the food was indeed first class. The quality of the fish, expertly cooked was beautifully presented. However, the prices are extortionate - £26 for the pan/£37 for the platter! â and if you wanted lemon sole or lobster it is additional £8.50 or £10.50 respectively!Unfortunately, the service was lacking for such first-class food. Only two staff, leading to lengthy waits and an all-round lack of attention. Our waitress was unable to answer questions about the types of fish on offer or whether it was local, which we suggest in a speciality fish restaurant is poor and the other member of staff, who we believe may have been the manager, was not even in uniform, wearing a pair of scruffy jeans and sweatshirt. She even expressed a lack of desire to have to go downstairs to get a particular beer requested. Despite having shellfish which required fingers, we were not offered finger bowls or bowls for the shells, not even an additional napkin. Complimentary water was not offered either. It seems a shame, as we have previously said, the quality of the food was first class and clearly, the chefs are doing a top job. But if you want to have an establishment charging these kind of prices, the experience and service must match.

Voted "Best Restaurant 2015" by Food & Drink Devon. The Crab Shed is a waterside seafood restaurant near The Fish Quay in the heart of Salcombe, Devon. Our restaurant sits alongside our very own Crab Factory where we produce 100% hand-picked crab meat, cr
Visited here in October 2019 and was so good we came back for a second successive night. The garlic prawns and scallops to start are really simple and well done but it is the specials that I would so recommend. We had the hake with creamed spinach which I think was the best piece of fish I have ever eaten and my wife had the whole crab which she has not stopped talking about. For fish eaters I think this is the place to go in Salcombe. Prices are also very reasonable, two courses plus wine for 2 for under £90.Thanks for returning.Glad you enjoyed the specials. Our specials generally come in daily so they are fresh, fresh, fresh.Appreciate your lovely review.

The CRABSHELL INN is gloriously situated on the quayside in Kingsbridge and with its south westerly aspect basks in the sun all day. The Crabshell is gaining a fine reputation as an eatery of distinction with an increasingly acclaimed menu. The Inn is âch
We enjoyed the location and atmosphere of this restaurant. Our party enjoyed the kids pizza, scallops and most of all the mussels. The mussels were plump, tasted great and excellent value as the portions were generous. Others said the crab salad was not good value, especially compared to the crab sandwich and the crab meat was average tasting. The Crabshell bouillabaisse was disappointing due to the taste of the stew. The service was very slow as they was busy.
