It is situated between the Bushmans and the Kariega Rivers, and lies approximately halfway between the industrial centres of East London (180 km) and Port Elizabeth (130 km). Kenton is part of the Ndlambe Local Municipality in the Sarah Baartman District Municipality of the Eastern Cape.

We had the good fortune to be invited to lunch at Stanleys. What a beautiful site, overlooking the bends of the Kariega river in a peaceful rural setting. The food (fish and chips, in this case) was really good and the hospitality was tremendous. We can't wait to go back again. Thank you Rod and Dot.

My wife and I went with our two daughters and their husbands for lunch at this restaurant. The setting is great and we had a delightful waitress. The younger ones had calamari and ribs and they really enjoyed their meals. My wife and I ordered the prawn platter for two at a very exorbitant price. They were so mushy that we could not peel them. We called the waitress who took one look and confirmed that they were 'mush'. She went off to get the chef to open 'another box'. These were also pure mush and barely edible. Her explanation was that they must have microwaved them. Having complained and pointed out that the prawns were dreadful, I thought that there might have been some discount,but no chance. I went to the bar to order Dom Pedros and the young man worked at reconciling slips for at least 15 minutes while totally ignoring me, so I went back to our table. We ordered Dom Pedros from the waitress and, after 25 minutes they arrived. They were delicious and worth the wait. I would return there only for the relaxed ambience and lovely setting. I have eaten prawns all over the world. These were the worst I have ever had- and the most expensive The restaurant was well patronised but I would not rush back there. Honestly I am surprised to see their rating as high as it is on here. They have a stunning view, the only reason they get business I'm sure as they service is absolutely appalling, the owner extremely rude (has no idea how to treat a customer), it's grubby, run down, and the food takes forever! After having to get out own waiter as they didn't tend to us, we waited well over an hour for our food, the waitress treated us like she was doing us a favour and we were an irritation, drinks took forever so we went to the bar to get our own instead, cigarette butts in the decor on the table, toilets un-flushed with urine all over the floor, the smells of the uncleared bins in the sun wafting up onto the deck. We left without eating in the end as it just took too long and our patience had been tested after such bad service - the worst I've experienced in South Africa to date. Think we dodged a bullet as with the state of things, the kitchen is most likely horrendous so we are glad we didn't eat the food. Just know - for me to make a bad review says a lot as I generally don't but these guys inspired me enough to write one. Go their for a drink, not a meal if you want to enjoy the view but rather support a better business, they don't deserve your money.

Visited with family for lunch.If you come from the city u may think this place is a dive but it's a great local hangout.In the bar the locals congregate while the tourists go to the restaurant.Service was decent and there is beer on tap and bottled craft beer.Everybody was satisfied with the food - my burger was very good.Views are excellent.Won't break the bank either.Good place for a pub lunch or pub crawl.Thanks
