My family and I have just returned from a weekâs stay at the beautiful and intimate, newly refurbished Lorelei Londres hotel in Sorrento. This charismatic and lovingly restored hotel is actually an old Roman villa with original walls incorporated sympathetically and stylishly into their new home in the cellar. Itâs worth a little trip downstairs just to see them. Weâd argue the views from this hotel are some of the very best in the whole of Sorrento as the hotel is perfectly nestled beside and overlooking the sea and breakfast, supper or drinks outside is such a treat. It is a very short walk into town from the Lorelei. The hotel is pristine with stylish Italian marble and tile floors throughout, clean white walls everywhere and gold and turquoise hard and soft furnishings presumably designed to reflect the glorious Italian sunshine and Mediterranean waters the hotel sits beside. The restaurant is the best we experienced in the whole of Sorrento and it was such a pleasure to watch the open kitchen and talented chefs at work. Do visit if you get a chance. Everything we ate was delicate and delicious and we hope the restaurantâs reputation grows and grows. It certainly deserves to. Breakfast was wonderful too - bakery-fresh pastries, breads, jams, yoghurts, fresh and ripe fruit plus any cooked breakfast you could wish for. The restaurant and bar staff are super too. So warm, friendly, chatty and helpful. That goes for all the hotel staff. We are a family of five and treated ourselves to a junior suite (room 206) with balcony/terrace and hot tub overlooking the beautiful Sorrento sea and room 207 with twin beds. Both rooms were spacious, very clean and perfect. We loved the extra luxury of the balcony and would drink coffee, wine, read our books and enjoy the HUGE bath/hot tub outside every morning and evening. The bathrooms are very large too and come with plenty of super soft towels, robes and slippers. If the TripAdvisor rating system allowed me to do so, I would give this hotel 4.5 out of 5 but sadly TripAdvisor insists on me giving it 4 or 5. I have rather reluctantly given it 4 stars as we did experience the tiny problem of ants in both rooms and all over a bed and in the sheets on two different days. Obviously this wasnât very nice but we recognise this is outside of the hotelâs direct control. The team did change all the bedding for us straight away and cleared out both rooms for us. The other reason I have marked it down slightly is the noise in the hotel. While it is a very elegant hotel with marble and floor tiles everywhere, that does make it quite noisy and I was woken up a few times. Not by noisy guests or staff but simply by the fact it is full of hard surfaces and echoic. Iâd recommend popping lots of soft furnishings, cushions, curtains perhaps in the halls, restaurant and bar to deaden down that noise. An easy fix. Also, although the vast hot tub and bath on our balcony was lots of fun and we used it every single day, there is little privacy if people are staying in the room above you and sitting on their balcony. Again, Iâd recommend covering the metal railings on their balcony so they can enjoy the views of the sea and sky and not us in the hot tub! I noticed the main stairs to the second floor also overlook a different roomâs hot tub and privacy. As I say, this is a wonderful and special hotel with such warm and friendly staff. We would highly recommend it. Iâd like to give it 4.5 stars and these are suggestions rather than criticisms.

Lazy Days came highly recommended by our charter boat captain. We took our catch to the restaurant and they prepared as we requested. FANTASTIC FOOD! The view is great, the drinks are cold and the atmosphere is relaxing. End of story. We'll go back again on our next trip.

I discovered the Ciao Hound earlier this week and Iâve now been here 3 times. The food is delicious (fish specials blow my mind) and the service is phenomenal!! The server we always ask for, Edwin, heâs so incredibly polite, attentive and just a genuinely nice guy. We will always come back to this place. I wish I could rate it higher!

Never once have I EVER had a bad meal here. Well worth the money because it meets the QUALITY of the food. This restaurant is fantastic!! They have a happy hour, sometimes bringing a line 30 people deep, but it's because everybody knows!!! The secret is out. Yes I am local and can guarantee that you won't be disappointed. Service isn't that great that is my only complaint but slim pickings when the cost of living is high and the work force is non existent. GREAT FOOD!! That is all that matters :) Can I say more????Thank you for loving our food! It is always so nice to hear from locals who love us and our Happy Hour even when it is so busy. I am sorry to hear about your inconsistent service, we are working on that as a team and are shooting to give the best service. Please come back and see us soon.

Ziggie and Mad Dogâs has become a destination steak house⦠one of the finest in South Florida! Ziggie and Mandichâs culinary influence are on display even today with some of their favorite dishes sill on our menu. No trip to the Florida Keys will be compl
My wife and I spend five days a month in Upper Matecumbe and always look forward to the great restaurants nestled in between mile markers 79-90. There are some great spots such as Lazy Days and others but the one that is part of the rotation each time we visit is Ziggie & Maddogs. We find it upscale for the Keys but very laid back and casual at the same time ... almost a Joeâs type vibe. Ziggie & Maddogs doesnât need to rely on false pretense because theyâve nailed it, from the great bar atmosphere to the friendly staff such as Phil and Lacy (Z&Mâs absolute best servers!) ... but ultimately what makes this spot a must each time for our monthly visits is the superb food, whether from the menu or daily specials. On our last trip, we really faced a conundrum... to go to this amazing steak and seafood house and order the sirloin burger, or go for our favorites such as a filet, delmonico, tripletail or yellow tail. The decision vexed us as we chatted about it while cruising down the Intracoastal Waterway. Then, like a bright beam of brilliance we had it figured out ... we would go twice on back to back nights ... Friday for the sirloin burger and Saturday for full-on entrees. As we settled in with our game plan on on Friday night, my wife threw a curve ball at the last minute and ordered the filet from Lacy. Her decision to waffle to the filet was perhaps drawn about by imbibing on a glass of Bulleit at the bar before we sat. Her strategy was spot on with the filet on our early Friday dinner and then going for the yellowtail from Phil on the following night at a later seating. As usual, we were checked in on by the ever observant Galen who runs the show and is always ensuring that his guests are enjoying themselves. For me ... I stuck to the script and ordered the sirloin burger on Friday and a wedge salad with filet on Saturday ... there was always time for behaving once we got back home from the Keys. Thanks for the wonderful review! We do appreciate!

A great place to eat local dishes and experience the island atmosphere. This restaurant is on the roadside and not on the beach. However the service was exceptional. I had the conch chowder with the sherry on the side. It was great. In addition, if you donât want a full meal, they have a âsmall plateâ menu. Definitely would return.

A warm, inviting dining room with colorful local art adorning the walls. Small, sleek bar serving fine wine and beer. Tropical veranda seating for a lovely dinner or Sunday brunch. Fresh Local fish and seafood, Prime steak, attentive, friendly service.
After reading nothing but great reviews about Chef Michaels, my husband and I had to try it out for ourselves. The food was nothing short of amazing and I will be returning just for the ceviche, YUM! The only reason I'm giving Chef Michaels an average review is because of the service. Our waitress, Ashley, had a attitude and made us feel like we were a nuisance to her when there was only a few others in the restaurant.-
