Our original Brighton Lanes Oyster Bar is lit by candlelight and features tiled walls and high tables and stools. You will be seated side-by-side, allowing for a focus on casual dining and ambience. We have fresh daily specials and catch of the day on off
We had booked elsewhere but when we arrived we didnât want to stay. So we wandered the streets of Brighton and popped in Riddle and Finns. We had seen this place with queues in the summer and we now know why. Service excellent, atmosphere excellent and best of all excellent food. A lot of people may not like the fact you canât book and may have to share a table but that doesnât bother us. The portions are large and itâs quality produce that is used. Well worth a visit if your in Brighton, must try the seafront one soon!

We are back from our winter break . Itâs time to get going again. We are staring with Finest Native Oysters (only available when there is no R in the month). WOW these are great. We have fresh filled rolls with our famous fresh lobster roll at the top of
decided to use this seafood shack as it had good value oysters and a large range of other stuff too!The owners are very helpful and recommended using there seating as they had a thing up to help prevent being mugged for food by a seagull (which happened to me another day when one bowled into my head and took the icecream out of my hand and flew off!!!)We had a selection of really good priced oysters, as they had a couple of different kinds, some mixed seafood and some prawns and they were all great! So good in fact we went back the following day for more, and very very surprisingly, the owner recognised us and said, "back for more", very impressive as they must get so busy! Just on that I'd recommend this placeCan't wait to go back to Brighton if only for this alone! So glad you decided to visit us & you were so impressed with what we had to offer. Please tell your friends if they are our way. We look forward , one day to seeing you again Regards Cliff

We'll never be a large restaurant, It's simply too small, our kitchen has always been in the heart of the dining area making our complete operation totally transparent. If you haven't visited us, you'll find that what we offer is real italian food, the fo
we went mid week and the area was not very busy, until we went in here. it was very busy but also congested. we ordered fish and chips but found that wherever we stood we seemed to be in peoples way. there was a huge queue of people waiting for ice cream, which looked fab, but we werent around long enough to sample any. was very excited to try the fish and chips after reading all the cuttings on the wall about this family business. the fish and chips were lovely but i felt they could have been a bit more generous with the portions. it was £11 for one fish and chips, which isnt cheap, and didnt think it was the greatest portion, they could have at least popped a few chips in the box.

The Urchin freehouse is in Belfast Street Hove. We visited to celebrate a family birthday with dinner and werenât disappointed. Itâs a really large pub with a superb menu of seafood and fish. The service was excellent and so too was the food. The prices were reasonable. Very laid back atmosphere but very efficient service from friendly staff. Definitely recommended.

Mekan Charcoal Grill & Meze is a Hove based restaurant bringing you to unique tastes from Turkish, Mediterranean and Cypriot Cuisine.
Despite having been advised that Mekan - which had briefly gone through an incarnation as âFishmekanâ - was seemingly a successor to the excellent Makara restaurant, once from further down Church Road in Hove, this was our first venture inside. Why the delay?⦠Well, the location has, over recent years, been the host of a number of ill-fated ventures and there was a worry this might prove the same. Immediately on entering, we realised that worry was unnecessary - the place, at 8pm on a Saturday night, was full and clearly the attendees were all enjoying themselves. The menu is extensive but we made some well-worn choices and were delighted to find the standard of Makara had been maintained. A minor downside is that the one-room restaurant is vast and the extremely high ceiling and lack of absorbent furnishings makes for perhaps an over-noisy ambience but the sound of exuberance wins over library-style silence for me any day. Mekan is now firmly on the ârevisit soonâ list.

My partner and I went to Nostos for my birthday after we looked at a lot of places and the photos and reviews of Nostos were the reason for this choice. I was not wrong about choosing to go to Nostos! The food was excellent quality and delicious and the service was brilliant, with the waiter being attentive and friendly without being overly pestered. I will definitely be going back again soon!Thank you so much for visiting us and for taking the time to review us! kind regards

We are a friendly neighbourhood family-oriented cafe-restaurant serving various British and Asian fusion cuisine. The menu is always changing according to the season and customer feedback. Customers are welcome to bring their own wine and beer at any time
Cafe Asia opened a couple of months ago, replacing a previously excellent asian takeaway. The owner(s) spent significant time refurbishing the building, with a nice lick of green paint and turning it into a breakfast and lunch cafe, as well as a takeaway. We met the owner a few times who is lovely and very friendly. The menu was initially confusing; they started serving english breakfast and sandwiches, with a more asian fusion themed menu apparently to follow. We decided to visit after it had been open for a good month or so, as more asian dishes had been added to the menu.I'll start with a few positives, as I feel you need to give people their fair due:-the cafe is quite nice, with good coffee and a friendly atmosphere.-there is seating outside-free wifi-they have some interesting chinese/asian drinks that you might not get in other cafes, including cans of coconut water, various juices with jelly, almond milk etc.-the waitress was lovely and really did her best to make us feel welcomeWe wanted to get some dinner/light snack - we opted for some dumplings and a 'hong kong style pork chop with home made tomato sauce, egg fried rice and veg'.The dumplings were quite nice, albeit very salty, and a tad pricey (£4 for 4; quite a lot considering I get 8 for a fiver at Itsu)The Hong Kong style pork chop was, I'm sad to say, so awful I momentarily thought I'd landed myself in an episode of Kitchen Nightmares.Other than the fried egg rice, I could not figure out what was asian about it; the thick tomato sauce had cheese(?) on it, tasted like it should've been on a pasta dish, the broccoli that came with it inexplicably tasted fishy, and the less said about the poor chewy pig that died for this dish, the better. The waitress explained that this dish is a big hit in Hong Kong - I'm afraid there's no chance of that here. So, the bad:-the menu is confused; is it British? Is it Asian? It also doesn't help that new dishes appear as hastily printed photocopies on the window, making it look like a cheap takeaway.-Though we should try more dishes to get a full picture, the ones we tried don't instill confidence.-Drinks wise it's nice to have asian options, but sometimes you just want a simple soda, like a coke or a sprite.-no clear distinction between the lunch and dinner menus - I've walked past a few times, pondering if I'll get something, but it is unclear whether some of these dishes are 'portable'. It also tries to impress with 'different' dishes, like said Hong Kong Pork and 'egg noodle wrapped fried chicken', yet lacks some of the basic favourites. Where is the satay? Where are the duck rolls? It's a real shame, as the owner is lovely and as I live near, want them to do well. But they really need to sort their menu out, and up the cooking a level.
