La Trocha is built like a pirate ship. Itâs no surprise seafood is a specialty. Aaron loved his mariscada en salsa jalapena, 5950 colones. I enjoyed the casado vegetarian--especially the potato salad, 3400. Our total bill including a Diet Coke and Tropical Te Verde was 11,350 colones, or about $21.21.

We were on a road trip from the north rain forest to the south and there was a lot of construction along the way. We stopped at Valverdâs mostly because we were done with the road construction and there was a long line of cars. What a find. We split the Casado fajitas de pollo 4200 (about $8), it was enough of us. It was a very nice restaurant and I would stop there again. The wait staff was a little slow but the food was great and Iâm glad we stopped.

La Marisqueria Mar Azul has a very casual atmosphere with few embellishments, but the food is amazing and a great value. It's very popular with the locals. I would definitely recommend the patacones con guacamole!! I split the rice with shrimp plate with a friend and it was more than enough for both of us. Not a tourist spot at all - but that's part of the appeal.

Great local food with good service in a simple but clean restaurant. Located near a river and woods, keeps you cool and entertained. Try their Chifrijo, something to call home about.
