Gosport (/ˈɡɒspɔːrt/ GOS-port) is a town and borough in the South Hampshire urban area on the south coast of Hampshire in southern England. The 2011 Census recorded its population as 82,622. It is on a peninsula on the western side of Portsmouth Harbour, opposite the City of Portsmouth, to which it is linked by the Gosport Ferry.

We were on a short break holiday and popped in here last week for lunch. Surprisingly busy on a week day out of season. We found out why though, the food was absolutely superb as was the service. Great ambiance with lovely views over the Solent. The scallop and bacon on brioche rolls were outstanding and my wife's crab salad on sourdough was pronounced as superb. And for an extra special delight, try the haloumi fries, take care though as they could cause serious damage to the waistline. All in all, highly recommended. Wish we lived closer, it's a long drive from Scotland.

Called in for a light lunch. The service was excellent, drinks brought to the table, rare for a pub. Served a range of light bites. The real ales were very well kept. Quite rightly this pub is in the 2020 good beer guide.

Visited on Sunday 03rd November, sisters birthday ! Had a great meal and some wine. The staff here are always relaxed, friendly and not all pushy to get you to vacate your table. Have been to Lochfyne many times and it never disappoints... The haddock fish cake starter was just fantastic I do wish they wouldn't add gratuity to the bill, that is the only thing that puts me off going here. I always tip, but tipping should be the choice of the diner, not the restaurant.Thank you, Clara, for leaving us a lovely review. I'm glad to hear you and your sister enjoyed her birthday meal with us (sign up to our Friends Card and you can get a complimentary bottle on your next birthday). Went for breakfast whilst the Great South Run was on. Asked if they had gluten-free options and was presented with a full menu. The server wasn't particularly welcoming/plesant, when I asked if I could swap my fried egg for scrambled I was told the kitchen was too busy to make changes (there were at least 12 people working that I could see and the restaurant was barely in use). My breakfast was brought out by another server who asked me if the sausages were gluten free, I said I had asked the first server to check but she didn't come back. She kindly went and checked and no, they had served me a gluten free breakfast with a sausage that contained gluten, as they had just changed supplier. She took the plate away to redo my breakfast to avoid cross-contamination and pop a bit more bacon on it. They just re-plated it as far as I could see, the toast was the same but now cold. Considering the GF breakfast is the same as the normal but with the bread changed and anything else containing gluten removed it was the same price. The food was nice enough, the decor and location are great but given that I am coeliac which is an auto-immune disease and not simply a choice I wouldn't bother again, they were not worried about making me ill.

You cannot go to the seaside without eating fish n chips, itâs the law right?These guys do it just right, just witness the queues to get served. The taste, price and service are excellent. Went with friends and we were not dissapointed. The eating area has a modern nautical decor with tables well spaced. Reasonable number of varied main course choices. We had the baked hake special which was a generous potion of well cooked fish. The service was friendly and efficient.

Great find, whilst looking for a fish & chip restaurant. Takeaway with small seating area with good ambience and lovely helpful & friendly staff. Disappointed there was no plaice on the menu. There is a catch of the day and gluten-free and non-fish options. Quite different menu, with interesting sides and tried coleslaw with parmesan, cauliflower popcorn, smoked salmon fishcake, all delicious. Kids eat free 4-6pm Mon-Fri was an added bonus. Parking on street in parking bays.

From the outside the North Star looks like a typical large town pub. Inside itâs another world. Crisp scarlet table cloths and white linen napkins make for a smart restaurant setting. The service is friendly and efficient while the tapas are fantastic. We ordered from the set lunch menu which meant that the four of us could have a total of twelve tapas. We ordered one each of the ten tapas on the menu with double helpings of the whitebait and meatballs. Everything was freshly cooked, was served at the same time and everything was delicious. The house wine was good and the bill remarkably reasonable for the amount and quality of the food which we had had. Some of the best tapas that Iâve had and we will definitely return.
