We were pleasantly surprised to find this lovely location hidden away surrounded by mountains, rivers and much to see. The staff were, contrary to another reviewer's experience, very friendly, helpful and upbeat. The food portions were fine and the wine was good. Great for kids; there's an inflatable climbing thingy, a teepee for smaller kids and a park.

We stayed here 3 nights and ate at the restaurant every night. We really liked the food witch felt made with the heart. The menu changes almost every day depending in the material available. The hotel is another story which I don't consider in this review. The beds are very uncomfortable. The is some kind of ventilation starting every 15 min which wakes you up. It is however very cheap.

Some years ago I visited Ristorante Da Michele and was not impressed. As there are many good restaurants on the SS13 between Tarvisio and Udine and even some excellent restaurants, the need to revisit Da Michele during our trips in the Friuli was not apparent. However, this time we resolved to give Da Michele a second chance and really try to like the restaurant without prejudice. I have to report with regret that it was no good. The pizza had a flat taste and a tough base, the sort of quality we expect from a pizza joint in the Netherlands and what they did with my favorite dessert, panna cotta, I will never know, but I know that the dish gave me indigestion. Furthermore, the service of the staff was again surly and chaotic. I don't think I will give Da Michele a third chance.

We went to this restaurant for lunch - their specialty is fish although they do have meat plates. We both ordered pasta with scampi which was very good. We shared fried fish as a second plate and it was excellent. The wine was also very good. We both had coffee with a Sambuca and the total cost for the two of us including water was 35 euros - which was a great price. The owner brought us a sample of their homemade almond cookies which was a nice treat. They had a man singing during lunch who was very good. The owner and servers were very nice to us and they made sure we had everything that we needed. I would highly recommend this restaurant - you won't be disappointed!

We spent a week in Osoppo, Friuli and enjoyed dinner at Al Fungo numerous times. The german beer they serve (Paulander) is great. The food also delicious and reasonably priced.A great location if you are passing through, it is located just off the highway. The hospitality was also great. I recommend it for a night out with friends and Iwould return there.

Bene, anzi benissimo.

I realize not to expect ;positive service in Italy so when it occurs as here it should be mentioned. Our waitress was very good, and quick and pleasant and spoke German, English and Italian, and quite rightly refused to speak French. The veal escalopes with mushrooms were first class. The local white wine good. Deserts divine, we ordered more. And a pleasant garden courtyard in which to sit.

I was visiting from the US and staying in Villach Austria. On the recommendation of the hotel concierge we made the 1.5 hour drive to Gemona Italy looking for an outstanding Italian seafood dinner .... Trattoria di pesce did not disappoint. Our hostess made us feel like we joined her family for dinner and she enjoyed exercising her english since she mentioned most patrons are locals. There was no menu and our meal from antipasti to desert was custom fit to our liking, just a great experience. The presentation matched the wonderful tastes of each course. The whole meal took a relaxing 3 hours and we enjoyed every minute at our table for the evening. I am certainly looking forward to returning! To have a good book review from who it is accustomed to travel the world is an enormous satisfaction. Thank you and we hope see again to you soon. Where to eat Italian food in Gemona del Friuli: The Best Restaurants and Bars

Ristorante La Perla has all the advantages. Delicious pizzas from the wood fired oven, superbly prepared food, professional, friendly hospitality, a light and spacious interior, with strictly clean tablecloths and ample free parking around the restaurant building. Easy acces, because the restaurant is right at the SS13. The only drawback is, that La Perla doesn't have a serious outside seating area, so dinner will always inside the restaurant. Furthermore, I noticed, that the prices at La Perla had increased visibly, compared with last year, so the bill was quiet a bit higher than with our previous visit. But despite this increased bill, I rate La Perla still five points.

Many thanks to Eleonara for cooking a delicious paella for thirty visiting British paraglider pilots who were staying in Gemona for the British Open Paragliding competition. Eleonara and her sister looked after us very well, and the whole meal including a small appertiser, large amounts of paella, desert and wine was only 20 Euro. I will definitely eat here again if the competition returns to Gemona!
