We just drove from Fort Bragg to Eureka via the Avenue of the Giants and are spending the night in Eureka before heading home. We were looking for a fun seafood restaurant and came across Cafe Marina on TripAdvisor. It was a great location on Woodly Island and it was a perfect evening. Not too cold and we sat outside on the deck. We saw a seal swimming in the marina and also a black crowned night heron. The food was great. I had the oyster basket,my father the captains plate (red snapper, prawns and oysters) and my mother had the prawn Alfredo. We were all happy with our choices.

In remodeled (1902) classic Revival building we present fresh in-house prepared food in the American Style. We are a Steakhouse with Seafood Options from our local bay and Pacific Rim. While our look is quite formal, everyone is welcome. We often offer lo
Upon entering Oberon Grill we received a warm welcome and were seated right away. We enjoyed professional, attentive service from a very friendly server, who spoke fluent French, throughout dinner. The interior of the restaurant is spacious and tastefully decorated. They offer delicious fresh seafood. I ordered the excellent prawns Scampi, my husband chose the snapper with sundried tomatoes & garlic. My friends opted for fish and chips. Everything was fantastic. Five points all the way!

Donât be put off by all the stuffed animal heads. Food and service were really good. We did not have a reservation and the wait was around ten minutes. We ordered a three dish combination meal. Chicken, ribs, pulling pork, potato and salad. Enough for two people. The pulled pork was the best of the three. I would recommend this place at least to try.

We came with three of us at 6:30. Seated right away. The duo playing and singing were great! The food was excellent. Our waiter Eric was attentive and knowledgeable. OMG the food was good. Delicious onion rings with a Reuben, fish and chips, mahi-mahi. All was good and the fries were good too. Iâd come back!

Cafe Waterfront is a beautifully restored Queen Anne style house that looks out over the harbor. It apparently has a checkered past of "ladies of the evening" working upstairs and liquor served downstairs, even during prohibition. The waiters and waitresses are very friendly and efficient. The view of the harbor and the street is nice. On the Friday night in September when I was there, there was live music on a square just up the street and I could see people dancing in the square, a wonderful ambiance. I was dining alone and had the calamari, clam chowder, grilled halibut and a creme brulee, 2 glasses of wine and a cocktail. That came to about $75, $90 with tip. There is a limited wine selection (2 each for major varietals) but they are inexpensive compared to my home in the SF bay area. The calamari was done as fingers, that I haven't seen before. It was nice and creative. Those must have been large squid. The claw chowder was unremarkable. It had fewer potatoes than usual (I like that) and fewer clams than usual (I didn't like that). It could use some more cream or butter and less corn starch, or whatever they used to thicken it. The halibut was good. Parts were well prepared and parts were a little dried out. The seasoning consisted of too much black pepper and wholly unnecessary hot red pepper. I do not ascribe to the current fascination that pepper replaces all other sense of seasoning. A little butter and salt on the well cooked parts would make for a delightful mouthful. The fish seemed very fresh. It was served with raw spinach and sauteed mushrooms and a bed of wild rice. I would have sauteed the spinach with the mushrooms (and some garlic and oil) and topped the fish with it. I think that could have addressed several issues for me. The creme brulee (sp?) was fine. I would go back to this restaurant again. It would be great to take my wife to if/when we vacation in Eureka. I would choose some other dishes but I expect to have a good meal.

I come here with my dad every time I visit Eureka, and the breakfast and lunch are always good. Nothing fancy but consistently good. Gill's has a working fisherman breakfast place feel though I rarely see any fishermen there (maybe I get up too late). Service is always good - my dad is old and cranky and never has a complaint which is rare :-).

Having arrived for an overnight stop in Eureka we asked our hotel to recommend a restaurant for dinne and they were very enthusiastic about Sea Grill. We had a lovely dinner in this beautiful, relaxed and friendly restaurant. An extensive menu and good wine list add to the appeal. Samuel was extraordinarily helpful and gave some great advice about what to see in the area. Samuel, thank you for telling us about Willow Creek. It was sensational. I would highly recommend Sea Grill.

The Carter House Inn is a luxury, boutique hotel in in historic Eureka, California. It is known both for housing Restaurant 301 and for being a replica of a Queen Anne style building by Newsom & Newsom, renown builder architects of many 19th century struc
Our friends took us here, and one could say the meal was tasty, but one could not justify $100/person. First the decor is more like a cafe or a diner with even a crack in the table. The music was too loud and inappropriate for a dinner setting. The wine list is unwieldy and over priced. Even when the dining room was empty, the hostess sat a loud mouth at the next table who bloviated about wine during his entire meal. The bartender was not sure that she had the ingredients for a cocktail. Then the drink arrived too late and missing a key spice. The answer was that the local recipe doesn't call for it.The crab cakes were delicious, but the fish was dry and so on. Finally we had to fuss to get the bill. At this price you expect a symphony or a chamber quartet rather than the local band during garage practice.
