Stopped in for dinner as this was near where we were staying. Our waiter was very friendly and attentive. He explained menu choices and specials. The menu is traditional pub type food, gourmet burgers, appetizers etc. We had burgers and side salads. There was homemade salad dressing which was wonderful.

Great steak, fresh seafood, big wine and Maritime hospitality come together to create the ultimate dining experience.
I have been many times in this restaurant and mostly really enjoyed the atmosphere, service and food! My expectations @ Barrington are generally and simplified : consistent good food/ wine products , attentive service and an atmosphere giving space for conversations and good time. Yesterday was different. I chose a good Cab from Napa Valley, the waiter confirmed it was great - which it is. But why was it not decanted? I should have asked for it, but because conversations at the table took away focus - the wine ended up directly in the glasses. No big problem - but the attention to details at Barringtons was different before. The Rib-eye was ordered and delivered medium rare , but not impressive meat quality ( way too much chewy fat). Is that really worth +70$ ? No - quality was not at the usual Barrington level. Lobster Mac& Cheese came 15 minutes after the main course . The waiter apologized and told the first batch was burned , hence they had to make a new. OK , but the new was late and almost raw! . The ordered Cigar tenderloin was 8Oz - I love this one and yesterday was great, but we seriously doubt it was 8Oz. merely 6 Oz - why? It was an overall OK Dinner, but for $550 for 3 persons - it has to be good and I just noticed a drop in attention to details and quality. I did not ask or was not offered any cost reduction due to the lobster mac and cheese situation I hope it is an overall glitch due to vacation etc??. Will be back! Hi Megaline1807,Thank you so much for taking the time to share your experience, we always appreciate hearing from our guests. We would also like to apologize for this disappointing experience and would love to make it up to you if you'd like to send us an email at [email protected] again,Maggie

We are a small family-run diner specializing in fresh deep-fried seafood, diner meals, homemade burgers, sandwiches and amazing pizza. Our fish has won "Best In Canada" by Canadian Living Magazine as well as 'Gold Awards' from The Coast Halifax for Best S
Lots of hype about this restaurant and their fish and chips but not sure why? The fish was over cooked and the batter was too hard. The tartar sauce wasn't homemade but just regular commercial stuff? Not sure how they are known for the fish and chips.

Come taste a delicious dish at McKelvie's Delishes Fishes Dishes. They are open after-hours all week and are readily reachable by car but also by public transit. The surrounding area is memorable for its merchants and restaurants.
Just had an amazing dinner with my family on recent visit to Halifax.I'm pretty discriminating about seafood given that i live in area with access to fresh, local seafood myself. McKelvie's did not disappoint. We started with the mussels app with focaccia cheese bread. OMG good. I order mussels regularly and these were some of the best I've ever had.Moved on to the Seafood A la King which is really a throwback kind of dish. My mom used to make us chicken a la king growing up. The seafood was perfectly prepared and the sauce was flavorful without overwhelming the fresh seafood flavors coming through. Topped it off with the BEST piece of coconut cream pie I've ever eaten. So good that I asked for the recipe!Do not miss this place.

Awful attention to detail. Little things that "fine-dining" should be doing that they just ignore. For these prices, I expected more. Other restaurants in the area provide better experiences: taking your coat, wiping the table between courses.. We had 3 servers provide us service during one visit. If you're going to call yourself fine dining, then be fine dining.

We ate at this restaurant as our original choice had power issues after Hurricane Dorian. Ideally located in Downtown Halifax. Booking is highly recommended. When we arrived, the downstairs area only had a few diners so we thought that they were quite quiet given that it was a Sunday. However, the main restaurant, it would seem, is upstairs. We were asked to wait whilst our table was being prepared so we had a drink at the bar whilst waiting. The upstairs area is nicely decorated and is very spacious. We had a table with seating for 4, even though there was only two of us.We ordered and the food arrived within a reasonable amount of time. Didn't feel rushed at any time. The food was very well presented and the portions were a good size. Neither of us had a dessert. The food here is of high quality and that is shown in the cost of the food. Not the cheapest of meals, but very tasty and worth the money.

We have been going to Vines Pasta Grill for about 15 years now for family special events. This week we celebrated two family birthdays with 18 folks. The hosting was on par with what one can expect from much more expensive restaurants. Ian was friendly, patient and had a great sense of humour. Never intrusive but always attentive to our needs - customer service is obviously a high priority at Vines. Every plate was a delicious tasting and filling experience. More than one in our party went home with some left overs. We chose a nice Italian Red to accompany the pasta and a complimentary bottle of Champagne for the birthday table was an amazing surprize. As usual many were raving about Vine's renowned Caesar Salad, a must have for new patrons. I would recommend Vines Pasta Grill to Halifax visitors and local folks who want a romantic dinner for two or that want to hold a large family event that won't break the bank. This is quality cuisine that keeps us coming back year after year! As stated in another review, this truly is a gem in Dartmouth/Cole Harbour. Bon Appétit!

The portions are fantastic, the service is fast and friendly, and the prices are very good. This isn't a fancy restaurant, but based on how busy they are lots of others feel the same as I do that it offers a great meal for a great price. Arrive early as prime dining times are very busy.

There were three of us and we all enjoyed the seafood dinners. The preparation of the food was superbly presented and cooked. The service was attentive, courteous, and fun. Highly recommend this place for a premium dining experience.
