Located along the Duck River, this restaurant offers a little quieter and more upscale interior than its neighbor restaurant Betty's, but both restaurants have an excellent view of the water. The menu has changed from what is posted on tripadvisor, and prices are higher, so be forewarned. My wife had the ribeye ($34), which was quite tasty. I had the fried catfish ($17 I think), which was flaky and not too greasy. Cocktails were $10, and they were very generously poured. Service and wait time to get our food were quite tolerable. Nice place to go for a couples dinner without having to drive all the way to Nashville. My only slight criticism were the high prices that were steep, especially for the steaks, but I've watched enough reality restaurant shows to know that it's a very tough business for a mom and pop place to make ends meet, so I just chalk it up to that. I am not a big fan of New Orleans/Cajun/Creole seafood dishes and my wife is allergic to shellfish, so I can't really speak to how authentic the cuisine is, but the fried fish I had was good and my wife's steak was delicious. We went on a Tuesday night and were surprised at how many cars were in the parking lot for a weeknight. When a place is pulling them in on an early weeknight, that usually means the food is good.Thank you for the complementary review. First and foremost, I appreciate your pointing out that our menu has changed from what is on TripAdvisor. That one was indeed uploaded about 6 years ago and you're the first person to bring this to my attention since we revised our menu about 3 years ago. This morning, I submitted the change request to TripAdvisor for the existing one to be eliminated & replaced with our current menu that I included. For the benefit of anyone else reading this, costs of beef are simply high, and there's just no way around that. Shockingly, the steaks are one of our lowest profit margin items on the entire menu because since costs of them are what they are, we have a lower markup so that they are not just exorbitantly priced. But all of our steak entrées do come with a dinner salad, side of the customer's choice and grilled French bread, so are a complete meal versus a la carte like some restaurants offer for the same price.I'm so glad both of you did enjoy what you had, and had you had any of the New Orleans specific offerings, I guarantee they are all indeed authentic. My husband and I relocated to Columbia from New Orleans after going through Hurricane Katrina. I was born elsewhere my family moved there when I was still a child, but my husband was born there and is a true native New Orleanian chef, so it truly is "the real deal". Hope we had the pleasure of you and your wife returning another time, and thank you again for taking the time to provide us with a favorable review. Elizabeth Parks Landry

We were very impressed with the food and service here. The server was attentive, and the food was hot and fresh. Prices were not too high. Basically all you could ask for if you are looking for the typical Southern catfish restaurant. Free soft serve.

I am always treated like royalty when I visit. They try hard to address my budget and needs. Just the other day I visited while on crutches, the cashier took my entire order to my vehicle for me! Now that's what I call service.

Captain D's has good food, served hot and fresh. While the prices are not out of line with other fast food fish and chicken places they are a little high for basic self service. But the food is good and it makes for a nice meal dining out.

My server was constantly forgetting about us (and we were here only table). The food was mediocre. Not impressed. Shoney`s will have to do better if they want to stay in business.
