We stopped here for dinner after a day at Belterra Race Track. The food was all very good and the service was quick. We had the Blackened Swamp Platter with the Mahi-Mahi. The fish was very flavorful and cooked perfectly. I had the crawfish etoufee which was very good. My wife had the fries which were just ok and not very hot. We were happy with the choice for dinner and plan to return again.

I like Embers and my family eats there every now and then to celebrate something!! tonight we were celebrating the new year. We were greeted, seated and ordered. Our server was very efficient and the 4 of us ordered a variety of appetizers. They came in a reasonable amount of time and were very good. The 4 entrees came and our plates were visually appetizing and perfect. I had the filet special and it looked so good and perfectly done. However, there was a problem, my plate was cold and the food was cool. Not tepid or warm but cool. It was very good, I enjoyed it but I can’t get over the fact that it was cold. I ordered a full order of onion straws for the table and they were cold? My friend was a little hesitant with her meal and I whispered, “what’s wrong”...and she said, “my fish is cold!” We were guests of another couple and we said nothing to them so we don’t know if their meals were cold or not? I hate going to a favorite place, having a very efficient server and then winding up with cold plates and entrees! We didn’t feel we were in a position to say anything as we didn’t want to hurt our friends’ feelings. But, if you receive a cold entree, say something. It’s crazy to go to a well respected restaurant spend a lot of money and eat good looking cold food!

When we entered a patron loudly proclaimed “ get the calamari “.We did. Good call. It was not overcooked or tough as is often the case. Marinara and chili sauce that came with it were good. The menu said best calamari in Cincinnati and maybe it is, but the is not much in the way of competition. The shrimp was a serious disappointment. It was the same kind of generic shrimp served at fast food places that is poured out of a bag from Kroger’s. The French fries were not very fresh. Oysters were as good as any my wife has had anywhere. The garlic bread was as good as any 4 star Italian place I have patronized. Garlic bread was considered a side and was overpriced. The other patrons were at various stages of inebriation and were very loud. While the server was okay, she was slow and inattentive. We will be back to try again, but no shrimp.
