First of all, we were staying in San Sebastian. I had previously booked a reservation at their sister restaurant nearby at a "ferme" (farm) Ostalapia that had been featured on an episode of Parts Unknown w/Anthony Bourdain on the San Sebastian episode. Well, to begin with, it was beyond difficult to book even that reservation as their website (REALLY) states that you must call in to get a reservation (yet, when even in this internet day and age, it is 100 TIMES easier for all modern restaurants in all Western nations to do it online). So I had called in 2 months prior and booked via Skype and even that took 2-3 calls over a couple of weeks. Mon dia!Well lo and behold, we are in San Sebastian. And instead of our 1 pm reservation, we want to change it to noon that day as we are up and about. So we ask our BedandBreakfast host to call them to see if they can change it. Well, lucky for us, he called. Why? We could not go to Ostalapia. Why? They had booked a wedding in the interim. Did I receive a call or an e-mail? Of course not. Why? Come on, these are the French, the worst humans on earth, on average. Trust me, I have been there before-unfortunately. Anyway, we had plans. And it was a gorgeous late Sept. day. So we agreed to go their "sister" restaurant on the sea. Nice location. Great patio overlooking the sea. Nice waitress-totally unFrench. Stated she did not speak hardly a word of Spanish despite living about 20 miles from Spain. But her English was great. Loved it.We ordered the grilled whole Turbot-the local fish. Simple but super fresh. Loved it. And the "french fries" were actually good. And, get this, they offered (and actually served) free, delicious, tap water unlike anywhere in Spain even though their water is absolutely fine. No stupid, over priced Perrier-oh mi dios! And I even got my Orangina, which is hard to come by in supermarkets in the US.In the end, Ostalamer saved the Osta "alleged" franchise.

We were welcomed warmly here and my wife and I had a nice lunch (John Dory for me and squid for her). They made a plate of chips for our son but it was a shame there was no children's menu. Soups like ttoro have to be ordered 24 hours in advance and desserts were less impressive than the seafood mains. But overall a decent lunch.

We first had lunch in this restaurant and enjoyed so much we decided to have dinner there as well. We've had an excellent moment : the dishes are elaborate and delicious, the meals are altogether copious and surprising. Moreover, the small patio where we ate is comfortable and calm, the staff is attentive and nice... A commandable place to have a nice time and eat well !

This restaurant was recommended to us. It is among a row of restaurants and we are very happy we decided to dine at this one. I had a wonderful chicken dish with pommes frites and shared the flan which was heavenly. We noticed that many of the locals ordered the mussels which were the real small and tender ones. Very popular. Thanks you for your sympathic words

Very bad food and expensive. We ordered the daily menu.15:59⬠Fish or meat was the option. The fish was two small sardines and the meat option a chunk of pork that one couldn't even chew. Meat I wouldn't even feed to my dog. Inedible. We left with our stomachs and wallets empty. :-(

went with a friend. We all had local grilled line fish (hake, turbot). Really lovely lunch, with a bottle of good white wine. We know the town well and have been past this place many times and always seen it full, but had never been in to eat before. We'll be back. Our local friend says the name of the restaurant is fishermen in Basque.....Arranzakeak = Pêcheurs. Service was friendly and helpful. (Not sure if they speak any English though).

Intimate bistrot, quirky and sympa waiter. Food disappointing. Fish soup more like a bisque, I liked it but my husband didn't. Advertised at 9,50 per kg on the board, our two cups were that price each! Sole in a rancid butter/ juice was "terrible". Quinoa bland and overcooked. My lotte in meaty gravy was quite nice, apart from fatty bacon wrap, salad was lovely, as was glass of Spanish white wine.

A very French family oriented restaurant, serving fantastic and good value seafood. Our group had the sole and the cod for two and both dishes were excellent. Itâs not haute cuisine, and the mains come without fancy accompaniment, but the quality of the ingredients and the cooking were right on the mark. Some excellent and good value wines too.
