Restaurant Ca"n Trompe

I spent around one hour reading reviews on TripAdvisor to decide where to eat Paella in Cala Dor as I always try to avoid tourist traps or disappointing experiences. I decided to try Can Trompe and was not disappointed. Their menu was informing the paella was for at least 2 people but the waiter agreed to do a 1.5 paella for me as I was solo. I ordered the blind paella and was satisfied, in fact, it was even too much so they packed the rest for me and I ate for dinner on the following day. It costed around 24 euro plus 2.50 euro for a coke. They also have desserts starting from 5 euro but I was already too full. Have no complaints as waiters have been kind and attentive.

I visit Mallorca pretty much every year and have done since I was born. Proas is a restaurant I look forward to visiting whenever I book the tickets to Mallorca. I normally visit in the summer. I imagine they don’t open in the winter, as many of the restaurants, it’s seasonal trade. Located in the harbour of Cala d’or it’s got a beautiful setting. I normally have a fish dish. They usually have a special on. I think I had a Sole when I last went. The staff are always really friendly and accommodating. They’re always relatively busy so I would recommend booking. Either pop in or over the phone. Their english is good.

Sa Llotja

We had lunch at SaLlotja and were immediately addicted . A great location overlooking the marina of Cala Dor . Nicely designed and decorated with beautiful works of contemporary Spanish art ( some nice works by Amador and Broto ) . The terrace is spacious . And the food ! Good variety of interesting dishes that you don’t find in every restaurant around the corner . We were delighted with the Frito of Chipirones and the Croquetas with ham , foie and apple Gelatine . The small Mediterranean soles are a real treat . Delicious !

Food is fresh and tasty. Beach front location with chilled vibes but.... Pretty rushed around lunchtime as the local mafia is coming to eat. Service is fast but not overly friendly to “normal “ people.Toilet needs a new touch desperately. The waiter was not able to decide if we can get a table without the boss? Weird. But again if you look for tasty bits you’ll probably won’t regret to stop by.

We had lunch here and were rather disappointed. The food wasn’t terrible but one could have expected more for the prices they charged. For instance, their seafood pasta was dry (little to no sauce) and the pasta they used also wasn’t restaurant grade. I had their chicken dish. Not a disaster but it also lacked flavor, plus too little sauce. We felt this place was more of a tourist trap. 100% Germans at this place.Nice location right by the water.

So my partner and I stumbled across this restaurant through tripadvisor and turned up on a Monday evening. Staff are really friendly and showed us to a nice table near the entrance but outside. We ordered garlic prawns and calamari to start - both were amazing and tasted really fresh. For main we had mixed meat and seafood paella - wow this was amazing and such a big portion! The mussels and lobster in the paella melted in your mouth and just everything about it was so good. We shared a bottle of wine (photo attached) which wasn’t on the wine list but the waitress kindly offered it as I said I like a sweet wine.

Cala Ratjada is very touristy but this place is set away from the main drag so seemed more authentic. Good paella (not amazing compared to Valencia restaurants but very good for the island), fresh calamari, powerful aioli and a huge fresh salad - one of the better meals we've had in Mallorca. Very efficient and friendly waiter who coped well with our rubbish Spanish.Sherman, we are very glad you appreciate the quality we are trying give our guest and you enjoy your visit!!I'm sure you and our waiter improve the language : )))best greetings!
