We stopped by to hear the live music & have a couple of cold drinks. Service was friendly & very helpful. A great relaxed feeling with this hotel, sitting outside in the warmth under the huge tree listening to some entertainment. Well worth a visit, had a thoroughly good time here. Thank you for visiting us, we are pleased you enjoyed your afternoon.

This old, local gem of a store has been around for as long as I can remember, and I have loved it for as long as I can remember. Have never tasted chips similar to these, and the portion sizes are great - so is the price. The deep fried cheese sticks are my personal favourite. Definitely recommend if you like nothing more than munching on a slab of hot cheese.
Once again we returned to Flippers for a great tasting, good value meal. The best fish and chips, burgers, sandwiches and chicken in Bundaberg. Fast service; even faster if you telephone them with your order. Open 9am to 8pm, 7 days a week.Go where the locals go. You will return!

I called on a Saturday evening during a busy hour and asked how long I'd need to wait and they said 10 mins. By the time I arrived (8mins driving time) the 2 meals were in the hot box waiting.Fantastic meals ! Highly recommended. Next time I am in town I will definitely go there again.

Tucked away in the family oriented suburb of Svensen Heights is a dining experience that few outside of Bundaberg will ever know. The friendly owners, Joanna and Giuseppe know all of the local fishermen and search out the tastiest seafood to offer their customers. I have never eaten elsewhere such delicious, fresh fish. Last Friday 'Joe' cooked me a thick slab of Red Emperor fresh from the local reef. It may well have still been floating unconcerned, thinking fishy thoughts only a couple of hours before I got to chomp down on this most flavorsome of fish. A true king of the reef. Joe got this fish from a local spearfisherman, I expect or from his licensed fisherman. (I wouldn't really know other than he does buy locally.) However I guess it was as pleased to share it's wonderful texture and delicate flavour as i was to enjoy. My wife chose a piece of something new to me called 'mangrove jack' a sweet tasting flesh yet wholly moresome and I would have been as pleased to scoff her whole fish piece too except that it would have involved an arm wrestle and she has been attending at the gym class. I may have been , not only embarrassed but found fishless. We did share the crisp golden brown potato chips, each warily watching that the other didn't sneak the biggest. No, in fact we visit only once a fortnight, on Friday night after first phoning to order. Then after exchanging pleasantries with Jo and Joe and all of the rest of the family whom we know from years of living in Bundaberg and community events it is our custom to drive the long way home after we purchase these fish and chips. We pass hot chips to whomever of us is driving. My wife wraps a cone from the paper sheet wrapping of the chips so that I have two or three to munch as we drive. You can order a box affair but we are set in our ways , having decided that wrapped fish and chips are traditional like when we still had the kiddos with us as youngsters in the rear seats. They too were portioned a cone of wrapped chips too as we drove downtown to 'See the lights ', the kids chattering and keeping us abreast of the intended weekend happenings. So Friday night is traditional and Fish and Chips from Jo and Joe's is our way of keeping memories alive. I expect we are more accustomed to fine dining and restaurants now yet always return to the more simple ways of simple folks who enjoy excelent simple food cooked to our own perfect delectation. Do get along to Jo and Joe's to experience just what a really good Fish and Chip shop can offer. I usually get a couple of fresh homemade salads to takeaway too and drinks to wash it all down. By the time we have driven through town and stopped to view the latest lights or even parked by the Burnett river to properly enjoy our meal we are reminded of those things which hold us and bind us to our community. It it this, the thought that we can know our local shop owners, the tradesman and businesses that make our city, those folks with whom we deal regularly and whom we know as friends. They each offer their best services daily and are appreciated by regular custom. We know that they care for us and their other customers, valuing their return visits and in turn inspiring each of us to deliver equal quality and value. Do I love my home town. Yep, right down to the waterline and every little place in between.

Returned after Easter to buy more Moreton Bay Bug meat. We had bought some before Easter and thought we had cooked it wrong - one pack was rubbery while the other was beautiful. We mistakenly thought that the rubbery one was pre-cooked and that we had cooked it for a second time. When we quietly enquired if that was the case the owner, Tony, came out and had a look in the freezer. Straight away he told us that the bugs had been incorrectly vacuum sealed, hence the "rubberyness". He immediately replaced the pack without being prompted to do so. What impressed us was the absolute honesty he displayed and his willingness to set the situation right - of his own accord. As a person and a businessman with integrity we couldn't rate him high enough (and he's a Collingwood supporter too - it doesn't get much better!!)

There's something uniquely exciting about ordering a traditional Australian meal (wagyu steak, mushroom sauce, salad and chips) at an Italian Restaurant with a subcontinental Chef. But it's absolutely superb. At each and every visit, everyone at our table has thoroughly enjoyed their meals. Whether pasta, pizza, or a la carte, the food never disappoints. Pappardelles is now one of our all time favourite restaurants.
