My wife and I tried their lobster rolls for lunch one day and 4 steamed whole soft shell lobsters the next day. Great toasted roll lobster rolls with tasty and juicy meat filling. Comes with a bag of chips as well. Nicely filled with meat. So good, we decided to get 4 soft shelled whole steamed lobsters and devoured them outside at the picnic table. Again, juicy and delicious! Service was excellent and friendly and we'll be back! Can't be beat in Bangor as well as Ellsworth.

Good ingredients, well prepared, served well. On road trip, chose Mclaughlin's based on reviews and photos. Rainy morning, so chose place with good looking indoor seating. Arrived a little after 11am and were seated at window overlooking marina. Chose fried calamari appetizer, which arrived after only a short wait. Proved to be a good choice - sweet dipping sauce and lightly breaded rings. (Compared to crispy rings with tangy marinara sauce, it seemed, at first, not crispy nor tangy enough. BUT, halfway through, decided the dish was perfect as a different take.)Just the right amount of time passed between the arrival of the appetizer and the entre. My fish and chips had two generous chunks of haddock; nice crisp fried batter coating with juicy insides. The chips (fries) had some light, nicely crunchy coating with creamy insides. With the slightly coarse salt and malt vinegar provided, it ranks among my favorite fish and chips. My wife had the 1-1/4 lb steamed lobster dinner. She declared the meat to be equal to the best she had in the past. She appreciated that tail had already been split, making access that much easier. The accompanying sweet potato fries were as nicely done as the chips, with a nice texture and sweetness. The young Waiter was attentive without being overbearing. Will eat here again if in Bangor at meal time.

Superb--the ambiance. Be sure to leave time for a tour of the upper floors.Very good--our party liked the steaks, scallops and the chicken. In particular, the sweet potatoes were very tasty.Could have been better--the brownie for dessert, which was unremarkable.Really could have been better--the little touches, such as the components of the meat and cheese plates were never identified. I was also astonished that after we used the cutlery that was used for the starter, the server put them back on the table to be used for the entrees instead of bringing clean knives and forks. Definitely not classy!Ghost,We appreciate your feedback. We are always training our staff and chefs, to give our customers the best service and food the area can offer. The items that you pointed out will help us with that mission. We hope, when you dine with us in the future, you will enjoy the improvements.Thank you again!

Large dinner group of 9 celebrated mother-in-laws 95th birthday. Jason handled our entire bar and dinner menu with perfection. Food was great. Ambiance not sophisticated but was great for this type of fun celebration. We cannot say enough positive about Jasonâs service. His professionalism helped make this a very special evening. Will come back just because of him and the food.

We called in an order for two lobsters and three pounds of steamers. They were ready for us when we got there. Our meal was still hot when we got home. It was worth the trip.

Folks from out of town wanted to come here against our preference. What we always hate about the entry is that it smells like a dentist's office. The hostess alerted us they were short with respect to wait staff and told us to wait at the hostess desk, along with three other parties, behind us. NOT seating us; not suggesting we wait at the bar. Just standing like cattle waiting in the slaughter shoot. Really. About 5 minutes later she comes back and does seat us. After about 5 minutes we had waiter take drink orders and then waited. And waited - almost 10 minutes for wine and beer; no mixed drinks. Before we were served he apologied for the bar delay and asked for our dinner order, which we gave him. One order with specifics to have no wheat products. Then we talked and waited. We expected delays with the food service, too, and this did occur. We asked for second rounds of drinks and these took another ten minutes after request. Food plates soon arrived, with my order missing my ordered salad and with the gluten-free order wrong and missing the included potato but with dirty rice side(who adds bread crumbs to a broiled haddock?!) That plate was returned along with a request for a third round of drinks while the wrong order was repaired. Which took another 15 minutes, even though the baked potato showed up. But not the drinks. So, three of us ate and one did not. With the delivery of the correct plate of food, the guest requested it be bagged up with plastic utensils because she did not want to remain any longer, since we'd finished eating. While we were waiting for the doggie bag, the manager stopped by to apologize, saying this was the first day of the waiter. We received our bills and they were wrong. My salad was on my bill, but my side was on our guests' bill. I gave both to the manager, pointing out the further errors, which were requested, and my $4 side was comped. Another apology about the billing but no comp for the guests. We each did get a 'free appetizer WITH entree purchase' coupon, but this is rather insulting, since an apology for poor service with wait staff and with kitchen staff and management staff, should not come with a 'freebie' which is not free. So we left and I pointed out, again, to my wife, not to our guests, how slippery the dark wood-like tiles were underfoot and how smelly the carpet was. Both very off-putting. I worked in restaurants for a few years, myself, so I know things can go wrong, but my wife said this is the last time we will visit this in our hometown, and I have to agree. We apologize for the incidents that occurred during your visit with us. It sounds as if the server was promoted prematurely and without carful consideration. We hope you accept our apology and our understanding of your disappointment.

Stopped in twice while in Bangor. 1st time we had mussels(FISHY), nachos (for the table) and calamari. The nachos and calamari were AWESOME!! Sampled three different beers and ended up having the Sunfish, which was great. Stopped in on Sunday, and they had a bloody mary bar. Shrimp, veggies, cheese,,,, ordered the calamari again!!! Sat outside, beautiful afternoon on the deck!

Hubby and I both enjoyed the lobster roll, dries and slaw plate. Our lobster was plentiful, very sweet lobster taste with a mound of perfectly cooked, piping hot fries and a good coleslaw. Our friends enjoyed the meatloaf dinner, which was huge and reportedly very flavorful and moist. Another friend enjoyed her large grilled cheese and bacon sandwich. Took a piece of yummy carrot cake to go as we all were too full to enjoy dessert immediately after the meal.
