Just four miles from the center of Lisbon, Belem (or Santa Maria de Belem) is best known for Belem Tower (or Torre), a 16th-century fortified lighthouse built to guard the port. This was, after all, the port from which famous Portuguese navigators like Vasco de Gama set off to explore the world. The area is also home to Belem Palace, built in the 16th century by King Manuel and now the official residence of Portugal’s president. Belem is also home to the magnificent Jerónimos Monastery.

Traditional portuguese restaurant. Main dishes Seafood Fish from the sea Codfish
Marias de Vinho Tinto is a stunningly delicious, small, side street restaurant in the beautiful wee neighborhood of Lapa in Lisbon, a 3 minute walk from Olissippo Lapa Palace Hotel.I asked the Lapa Palace concierge for a casual, delicious restaurant serving fantastic local food, preferably seafood, within a 10 minute walk from the hotel...!So with such a restrictive brief I wasnât expecting something as special as this. Ring the door bell and enter this special little place...Ricardo serves whilst his wife cooks. And both the cooking and service are exceptional. Our sea bass was the best Iâve ever had. The flounder, squid and local sausage divine.Even the tomato, lettuce and onion salad was utterly delicious, my husband and I (and our 6 year old) fought over that and ate it with the sausage...AND THE POTATOES, even the potatoes....where on earth do you find such beautiful, fresh waxy potatoes?Worth going just to eat the best potato youâve ever had!Our daughter had pork skewer and freshly made fries and was super happy. Then the puddings came, fresh lemon mousse, light and delicious, and (custard) flan which I havenât had as good since in Cuba. The wine by the glass was FANTASTIC. And ask Ricardo to recommend a liqueur to have with your desert, you wonât be disappointed. The restaurant itself is so lovely...small, quant and pretty. I felt at last like I was eating in the real Lisbon deal.10/10.I canât wait to go back...My tip is book first. Because itâs a small husband and wife affair they like to be prepared...which coming from a family restaurant myself I completely respect and understand.

In Lisbon, in the DOCAS in Alcântara next to the Bridge over the Tagus, go to the Restaurant Dock 6. Privileged location By the river. Quiet space, cozy atmosphere and a unique view. Start with our entrees ranging from the Eggs with Farinheira, to the Mor
This place is located on the Lisbon waterfront at the foot of a spectacular bridge with breathtaking views. We were welcomed with complimentary Porto to start our meal. Service was great with multiple staff catering to our every need, and conversing in English. Food was delicious - I had the house specialty octopus while my wife had a golden bream. We started with a tomato/cheese salad, roasted peppers and jalapeños. The meal was topped off with a crepe/ice cream/hot fudge dessert, and another complimentary tawny port wine.Definitely a recommended stop on your Lisbon culinary tour.Danny and Sandra Dear couple Danny and SandraThank you very much for your visit and your motivating comment. Located in one of the most privileged zones of the city, besides the sight on the Tagus river we are focused on the quality and freshness of the food that we made. Portuguese food, fish and seafood prepared with refinement and good taste. The 5 Oceanos of
I went as part of a large group to a dinner organised by a business partner. Our choices of main course had been limited to two and these were known to the restaurant. Steak or monkfish. The starters were ok nothing spectacular a few prawns some slices of octopus salad and bread just a average fare. Then the main course everyone else in the party was served and I was presented with monkfish which was immediately taken away from me. I then was left without food for over 20 minutes no explanation was offered when I asked the waiter said that someone else had taken my food. After 15 minutes what I took to be a senior waiter came and told me it had been given to someone else. The fish arrived after 20plus minutes a large tasteless lump of fish with some boiled potatoes and broccoli It had clearly either been hastily fried or I feel more likely microwaved and half fried. It was tasteless and rubbery. By this stage all the party I was with had eaten. I couldn't be bothered struggling with it and left over 75% of it. The waiter came to clear my colleagues dishes and looked at my abandoned plate and asked what's wrong with it? He had picked up my plate but then put it down in the centre of the table like an exhibit. It was left there like an accusation for 10 minutes while he brought the set desserts.I saw him confer with the senior waiter gesturing my way. No further questions were asked of me. Dessert was an average creme brulee A very unpleasant experience and because I was a guest not one I could complain about.Location is ok but noisy from the passing trains.Service average.

Doca Peixe owes its name to its location as well as its speciality: fish bought fresh from the fish market. On coming in, you may choose straightaway the fresh fish or shellfish of your preference, which will be weighed and prepared to your taste: charcoa
Our group of 4 had dinner here. As introduced by the concierge at Intercontinental hotel, the sea food was good but not 5 stars, wait staff all worked hard for us. A little negative point is that the passing train noise from the bridge was very bothersome. We had to walk some distance from where we got off the taxi. Any group with handicapped member will have difficult time walking.

This small restaurant delivers very good food, an much better than normal wine list, and excellent service. Our favorite dishes were the rack of lamb and the octopus. Be forewarned that the octopus entree is huge & perhaps best split. The mushroom appetizer and the pepper & cod appetizer were both very good. This is one of the Lisbon restaurants that I would highly recommend.

This was my least favourite food experience of our four days in Lisbon. The sardines were just ok and my wifeâs squid was far too salty (the waiter just said "oh; the chef does over salt things"!! however, the other two meals in our party were apparently very nice. Shame really as you would expect Portuguese food to be simple and well done. Clearly not here; save your valuable time and go elsewhere. Shame.

Delightfull, savoring proposals of fish, meat and vegetarian dishes in a welcoming, peaceful atmosphere.
reservation needed - it is a great small restaurant. the door is closed and we ring the doorbell to get in with our reservation. The menu is not big, but every dish is delicious with beautiful presentation. We love the octopus so much that we ordered the 2nd plate and shared, so 4 of us have 5 main dishes. the deserts are so tasty also. Strongly recommend! it is not crazy expensive. the price is very reasonable for the quality.

Very small âstorefront â eatery with about 10 tables. Do not be fooled, it came highly rated and did not disappoint. Pick your own fish for dinner.....I had the sea bream and my wife the salmon. Coupled with the house white wine and topped off with dessert it made for a most enjoyable meal. Price was more than reasonable.
