Absolutely perfect in the flavor department, the right amount of heat and just what I was craving. But that is second to the best and most personal service I have ever received. Rodney and his son and staff are amazing. They treated us right on a cold night and told us stories of fishing and basketball and life. Simply the best in Houston!
We drove out if our way just to have a Mexican shrimp cocktail. If you love them as much as we do then this is the place for you. We usually get them to go but opted for a sit down meal. This is not a fancy restaurant but it is a fantastic Mexican restaurant. Their green sauce is out of this world good and the cup of corn with cheese and pepper is outstanding. This meal was a good 40 miles out of our way but I guarantee you these folks know how to prepare a traditional Mexican shrimp cocktail that is the best I have ever had.

Normally I am pretty favorable when reviewing restaurants, but this one is an exception!I visited the restaurant to order takeout for dinner. I did not check the food prior to leaving, but I ordered the fried fish & shrimp dinner with fries. Also, I ordered the kids popcorn shrimp and fries for my son! Additionally, I ordered the buffalo wings from the starter section of the menu! When I got home and opened the box, I noticed that the fried shrimp looked like someone had stepped on them! They were totally flat with very little shrimp! Not what you usually see, nice plump fried shrimp! The breading was flattened and had only a small amount of shrimp! My son's popcorn shrimp looked like the breading was not even and had many bare spots with no breading. Fries were terrible! The buffalo wings were horrible and were the worst that I have ever eaten! I am not sure, but it seems to me that maybe this food had been in the bottom of the freezer for awhile! I ate a little, but threw most of it away!Normally, I get their gumbo, which has been pretty good, but after this, I will never go back. If I were the manager of this restaurant, I would be embarrassed to be serving food like this! Mambos better fix this or they won't be in business long!!!

We came with family for crayfish, only crayfish. Big Mistake. Wish we had tried some of their other offerings. The plan was to order two platters and then order two more. The crayfish were so slippery and oily that we took the meat out and didn't order more. Service was friendly and the restaurant was older but clean. All of us were so disappointed in the one thing we came to enjoy. My son ate here before and said their other food was good so we may try again but not crayfish.

THE southern komfort KITCHEN, in La Porte, TX, prepares food from scratch -- like Grandma used to make. Southern American food done the old-fashioned way.
Returning after being gone for three years and brought a first time guest. Appetizer was gumbo and out of bounds delicious my lunch was the Cheddar Soup with vegetables. My guest had the vegetable plate with dinner salad and their home made blue cheese dressing. Fried Okra, Broccoli Rice Casserole and Macaroni and Cheese. Yes the entire lunch was outstanding. So get on in here and enjoy what we already know. Retired Chef Gene

When they first opened up, this was the place to go. Now we go there about once a month. The grilled fish is still good, but the shrimp have been on the small side covered with s batter colored red. I think it makes them look larger.

For over 25 years, Monument Inn has been your destination to share family traditions and special occasions with great food and a great atmosphere! Specializing in fresh Gulf Coast seafood, we've become one of Houston's most popular restaurants. In fact, w
I drove all the way from Pearland for a party. I ordered baked potato soup, salad and calamari appetizer. I did not like the soup. It was yellow, had too many tiny diced potatoes and was tasteless. Very little cheese, sour cream or bacon. The calamari was spicy, salty, very tough, stringy and tasted very seafood. It was overcooked, not fresh & had very little meat. The salad was ok, nothing special. It had one tiny tomato, 2 thin slices of cucumber & iceberg lettuce. My cinnamon roll (their specialty) was ok, but mine did not have the gooey cinnamon in the middle like the others did. Disappointing. Other people in my party liked their meals. I have been here 2 times before and liked what I ordered before. Not sure what the problem was today. They always make a large party that has reservations wait until everyone is there before being seated. Ridiculous!Very sorry that your recent meal was not up to our usual standards. We hope you won't let one off-day ruin other great meals you've shared with us. This won't happen again and we know we can get you another delicious meal in the future. Best,Loreny, Manager
