This place is coasting on it's reputation, which is overblown because of the overrated reviews of tourists.After making a reservation months in advance, we were greeted at the door with a scowl and told to wait in the narrow alleyway with others who did and did not have reservations, The place was open but it was not exactly 7 pm, but why make us wait like beggars in the street?They stood 2 abreast blocking the open doorway, letting people in as if they were doing them a favor.The place itself is small with tables crammed against one another. Other than a big octopus on the ceiling no charm or ambiance.They do serve a massive cold raw bar assortment in a hollow shell. The fresh fish is brought to the table to pick your victim, but this too is unpleasant when they are lugging the tray around the room, shoving it in people's faces, over others at adjoining tables.The food is good, but unsophisticated. In some instances it needs pepper or any other condiment to make it seem more than bland.Nothing to write home about or travel to Bari. There are so many fine fish places in town, don't be swayed by positive reviews, read the negative ones too.Lastly, we were victim to the same SCAM about the credit cards [their website states that they accept card] We were told the service was out and we should pay cash we refused, called over a manager and demanded that he resolve the issue...PRESTO, card taken and processed with no issue or delay at all.AS IS ALWAYS THE CASE, BE CERTAIN THAT ALL CHARGES ARE MADE IN THE LOCAL CURRENCY [HERE EURO] WHEN USING YOUR CHARGE CARD

This 4-/5 restaurant is one of the better ones we have tried in Puglia. Pros: Good fusion thinking and nice food and dessert. Nice ambience. Very nice and service minded staff, good wine recommendations and cool interior design (chairs made of carboard, not super comfy but cool, nice lightning and decor). Cons: Food just barely live up to standards of (what in my mind is) a 4/5 restaurant; mix of starters, where some are really good and some less, and the combination of all of them together does not work, sirloin is nicely cooked but not as tender as it could be and potatoes are boring, burger is nice but not top notch, should be medium rare and maybe with some salad or other ingredient.

We shared a sandwich with tuna and mozarella (delicious!) and a salad with burrata and ham. Good service. The 20% reduction linked to our reservation with The Fork was only given after 2 reminders. Attractive interior.

We were a group of 12, just arrived in Bari and we had our first lunch at Gola. The restaurant was fully booked but they tried to find a place for us, we had an apetizer meanwhile they prepare the set up.for our table. The food was very good and the service amazing. It was a very warm welcome in Italy for our New Year roadtrip. I recommend the place and we hope to come back.Tnx so much. The ambiance, attitude of the staff also enhance or detract from the experience.At Opera, the staff is professional and amiable, The food is perfectly prepared, with any requested changes gladly accommodated.Our started salad was so delicious and large that we shared it with a French couple who were sitting next to us, along with some of the perfectly matched local red wine.We also ordered the mixed seafood, mentioned in several reviews.This was followed by wonderful main course and dessert.Take the detour, go beyond the confines of the "Old City" walls, you will be happy that you did.

I was taken for dinner into this nicely decorated ,still small restaurant , and seen the prices and the audience , I was expecting something more than an anonymous dinner as I ended up to have. The fish tartar was machine grounded and resulted in a paste for teethless people, the rolls were antyhing but memorable and the sashimi well ,average as all the rest .Service friendly but not professional , wine list with several bottles out of stock ,prices not worth the experience. Seen the type of people attending the place I guess it is more a trendy place than a location for people loving food

The location is absolutely breathtaking, the chef is outstanding and extremely creative, the service impeccable with NYC high standards (very rare to find in Italy).We came all the way from the US to celebrate my nephew's baptism, and we had one of the best time ever. We booked at this restaurant for a dinner with friends. We got really impressed by the fancy location, as well as by the courtesy of the staff.We tasted several appetizers and 2 different main courses. Every plate was introduced and well described by the waiter Davide. We loved every single thing we tried, it was all delicious and cooked to perfection.Don't forget to try the dessert (we particularly appreciated the "cannolo scomposto" and the "baked peach" with a smoked aftertaste which was truly amazing!)Definitely worth trying and highly recommended if you want to try genuine italian food with a classy twist.Good quality to price ratiothanks so much !!! ;-)
