Reviews on Seafood food in Baracoa, Guantanamo Province, Caribbean. Baracoa is a municipality and city in Guantánamo Province near the eastern tip of Cuba. It was visited by Admiral Christopher Columbus on November 27, 1492, and then founded by the first governor of Cuba, the Spanish conquistador Diego Velázquez de Cuéllar on August 15, 1511. It is the oldest Spanish settlement in Cuba and was its first capital (the basis for its nickname Ciudad Primada, "First City").

On a secluded bay in Maguana, away from the main one, their is one small private yellow wooden house that cooks the most delicious fresh seafood straight from the adjacent reef. Two brothers work together to provide you with the best of Barocoan cuisine.Carlos, the older brother goes spear fishing on the reef and comes back with, squid, snapper, lobster, dorado, prawns and any other delicious fish that has fallen onto his spear, then Inolvi (the younger brother) cooks it for you - with garlic, coconut and Barocoan spices. It is truly a feast. Each day was a delicious surprise served with rice, fried plantain chips and salad. On our very last day the brothers roasted a pig on a spit - 5 hours later it was truly the best pork I have ever had..This place is a real treat, and if you are lucky you will be the only guests. The brothers look after you like gods and and we had endless coco loco's (a large fresh coconut , chilled with rum in in) or mojito's or fresh juices.I cannot recommend this place more highly - it is an adventure not to be missed.

Not many tourists venture outside the city's main drag which is a pity: I was the only foreigner there for dinner. Had a good canchanchara drink and delicious and tender octopus dish with all the trimmings for a very reasonable price. Service was nice and attentive. The terrace affords a paoramic view over the ocean.

La Colonial is charming, with a verandah opening onto the street and a blue and white painted dining room. Very homely and welcoming in style. The food was delicious. I had callalloo and lobster follow up with the yummiest almond ice cream made, I guess, with locally grown almonds.

Ate here with my boyfriend. We both got the pork ribs on the grill. Portions were huge and the quality and taste were good. The only thing that put me off was how salty the meat was. I like salty stuff typically, but oh my goodness... It came with a root vegetable stew, rice, seasonal salad and mariquitas, which were all good. Anyway, I'd go back here to give it another chance. Maybe ask them to go light on the salt just to be safe. Loved the rooftop view!

It's a nice place - interior standards - with lots of Cuban art and artifacts. But we waited such a long time for the meal.

I was here for my birthday and the owner came out with a beautiful cake and the entire staff sang so that was nice. The lamb was everything the reviews said it was. Delicious. Thereâs a nice breeze on the covered porch up top which is where we sat. All-around great place for dinner

Service was extremely friendly, prompt and helpful, and our meal as good as we were served anywhere in Cuba. We both started with (included) fish soup, followed by swordfish in coconut sauce, both of which were marvellous. The local flan desert (also included) was also one of the best we have ever had. Live music, excellent cocktails and a great atmosphere made for a wonderful and surprisingly inexpensive evening. A must when in Baracoa.
