Things to do in Bahia Kino

As others have pointed out, there are very few places worth eating at in Kino (Viejo or Nuevo). Ideally, if you're coming here to spend the day at the beach you should consider bringing your own food. However if that's not an option and you need to eat somewhere, then El Pargo is a decent option for Kino Nuevo. It's a seafood restaurant with very few alternatives to that genre. The food was fresh and prepared well. The service was attentive, but certainly nothing spectacular. The prices or rather quite high by Mexican standards. But by us standards they're not and so that in itself would not be a deterrent for foreigners. They have ample parking which is something extraordinarly rare here. That is a big advantage, as well as being located just across from the sea which provides for a little bit of a view.

Jorge's is a well run restaurant where we found the best pina colada of our stay in BK. Best as in you could actually taste the rum; the other 4 restaurants we visited were very light handed with the liquor, even to my taste, and I like a very light touch with booze. Jorge's serves good seafood and has a weekly Mexican food night that local expats really like. We were also urged to try the crab Diablo and the tortilla soup by an expat at the next table; my daughter got the crab Diablo and loved it. Be forewarned that it's very rich. We were focused on seafood so didn't try the soup, but the guy was very well traveled so it's probably a good recommendation. The pecsado mojo de ago (fish fillet in garlic butter) and pecsado Veracruz were good, not great, the night we were there. The Veracruz was made with fresh tomatoes, not canned sauce, which puts it up a notch compared to some places I've ordered it. Jorge's is on the beach at the end of the row of homes and businesses that line the beach in Kino Nuevo, just before the road turns up a hill to a gated community. It has a porch looking out on the beach. The prices are average for the area, around $7 or $8 per plate. Well worth a try. You might want to see my other reviews of restaurants in BK for some other suggestions and comparisons. Buen provecho!
Where to eat Cafe food in Tlaxcala: The Best Restaurants and Bars
This restaurant looks great, sit outside when it's not too hot. The server was courteous and professional. There is nothing special about the food. The oysters had shell particles in every one of the 12 I ordered. We ordered a burger for my daughter and she wouldn't eat it. I tasted it and it was not good. The best part of this restaurant is that it closes later than others. I expected a more reasonable price for seafood here than in a border town.
I have to admit it has been a while since I ate at Pargo Rojo so it is possible they greatly improved their food. That being said the reason I stopped going is that on one occasion I had steak and eggs for breakfast and the steak was so tough I could not chew through it.I had eaten at Pargo Rojo three or four times mostly because there are few choices for good food in Kino buit after that experience we pretty much stopped eating at the local restaurants. Now every time we go (about twice a year) we get a place with a kithcen, bring our own food and cook for ourselves rather than pay for mediocre food.Last time I was in Kino (in May- June 2012_ I heard George's has a new chef that is culinary-school trained. We did not get a chance to check the place out but we intend to next time we visit.
