We have fallen in love with the Japanese tacos made with crab and tuna in a cucumber roll. We also love the tuna sashimi, the tuna tacos, and all the fish tacos. So far, every dish we have ordered has been perfection. If you love seafood, La Pacena is the place for you.

Not your typical seafood place. Our restaurant has an outside setting weâre you can enjoy the beautiful Ajijic weather under mango, avocado, banana and pomegranate trees.
We have eaten here 3 times in the past 5 weeks. Wonderful straightforward clean food...no heavy sauces, unnecessary carbs. Good tight small plates. Some dishes are Asian/Mexican fusion. Have had many of their tuna items....ceviche, tostadas, tacos....one great bite after another. They have some battered and fried items (don't miss the deep fried avocado). Oh...their dessert of Limon Charlotte is wonderful. Fair prices, innovative platings. Excellent service. The garden seating is not cramped, sturdy tables, good chairs. We passed this place by for several months, not sure what it was.....now we are regulars. Open most days, 12-6.

Best sushi in town! MASAYUME is a Japanese Kitchen and Sushi Bar located in Ajijic. Great prices, taste and location.
A totally enjoyable Japanese dinner by passionate owner and his chef. Highly recommend their Shrimp Tempura and colorful Vegetable Tempura birdâs nest - they were incredibly delicious, light and crispy. Soft Shell Crab Roll was tasty and delightful. All in all, everything we had was satisfying. If youâre feeling generous you might want to splurge for an ice cold Asahi.Service is attentive and non rushed.

For a number of years I have consistently eaten their Burrito de Pollo (Chicken Burrito), my favorite. After reading some reviews about their Fish and Chips, I had to give it a try. Yes I was not disappointed with my choice of their Sea Bass fish which was lightly battered and cooked to perfection. The fish was not greasy and the serving came with a generous amount of french fries and a side of coleslaw. I was offered their Maui Maui fish which I will have to try the next time. A very tasty lunch with a well chilled Negra Modelo beer for $140 pesos, tip included.

A great place to eat when you visit Chapala, amazing views, free boats rides, delicious food and a familiar environment.
My mother and I saw this highly rated restaurant a little west of Ajijic, and had not been disappointed by any 4.5 star-rated restaurants on our trip... until now. We simply came to have a couple drinks down by the water, and share an appetizer of ceviche. It is worth noting that I speak fluent Spanish, but my mother does not, so I was doing all of the ordering. To accompany our drinks, I asked for two glasses of water (free). Next thing I knew, the waiter was bringing over two bottles of water. I didnât say anything at the time, but shouldâve seen this as a sign of things to come. After finishing our drinks and plate of ceviche (mediocre at best) we asked for our check to leave. The waiter brought a piece of paper with just a number on it, 520 pesos, and scribbled Spanish stating that this was the total after the suggested tip. (Yes, for two drinks, two âwatersâ and an appetizer- WAY overpriced) Tucked behind this paper was an itemized bill for 435 pesos. I handed over a credit card and he asked me what I would like to add for a tip. I said 15% (yes, even in Mexico with mediocre food and service I am still going to be generous). Next thing I knew, I was signing a bill that added 100 pesos (25% tip!) for a total of 535. I looked him in the eye and told him no, I said 15%. He acted innocent and apologized, as if it was somehow a misunderstanding, and then fumbled around to find some change in his pocket in order to reimburse me in the amount of 35 pesos. Did I care enough to let if sour the evening? Of course not. But as someone who relies on TripAdvisor for restaurant recommendations, I thought Iâd share my experience at this â4.5 starâ place. And let others know that I certainly will not be going back.
