Hawick (/ˈhɔɪk/ ( listen) HOYK; Scots: Haaick, Scottish Gaelic: Hamhaig) is a town in the Scottish Borders council area and historic county of Roxburghshire in the east Southern Uplands of Scotland. It is 10.0 miles (16.1 km) south-west of Jedburgh and 8.9 miles (14.3 km) south-southeast of Selkirk. Popped in to The Riversedge for a late lunch, fantastic quality and value. Excellent variety on the menu, difficult to decide but opted for the open seafood sandwich, very pleased with my choice. Regular visitor for their fresh scones and tasty coffee. Also has a good selection of local arts and crafts on sale. Good advert for âshop localâRuth and Simon are perfect hosts, will be back to try the new menu.
Cafe bar serving great coffee, homemade cakes and food, local and Scottish ales and gin amongst many other drinks. Chilled atmosphere. Music and open mics are a staple part of Brew life!
Tried for lunch and had pizza and chicken sandwich. Pizza as burnt on bottom making it quite difficult to cut,it was also dry and not very good (£7. )Sandwich did not have much chicken and bread not very fresh. Very average. There are many better places in Hawick for lunch

As regular visitors to this restaurant we had high hopes following the recent refurbishment of both inside and out. Sadly the proprietor has concentrated on style over substance. The food was honestly the worst I have ever been served in a place purporting to be a restaurant. Some items had been badly cooked, stored and then preheated. This is a nice pub with friendly staff but unless and until someone is prepared to actually cook the food freshly they should stick to serving a cheese toastie. We will not be returning.

Only our second visit here but another great evening! Had a meal with two other couples. We all really enjoyed our wide selection of dishes. The battered haggis starter was amazing as recommended by the wonderful waiter (well remembered from the much missed Sergios!). The veal in cream and brandy sauce was also excellent. The service by all members of staff was great and the decor and atmosphere are memorable too. Another great feather in Hawick's cap! We will be back!

I went to Mansfield House Hotel for a Birthday meal with two friends tonight. The meal was excellent and portion sizes were large. Lynne and her staff made us very welcome and nothing was a problem to them. I would recommend this place for a meal with a difference as the choices are excellent. Marion Pearson

I stumbled upon this place whilst in Denholm. Popped in and I was greeted by lovely welcoming staff. The food was delicious and, although I didnât indulge, the cakes looked gorgeous. Chef was out chatting the customers and the place had a lovely atmosphere. Nice little seated area out the back also.

Went for the early bird menu on our stay on Hawick. The menu had good choices and absolutely excellent service. Really enjoyed our options. We had shared nachos then the vegetarian stroganoff and the sticky chicken. For sweet it was chocolate orange cheese cake which was amazing!!! Very full and happy with such lovely staff.
