On Snaefellsnes peninsula, in the harbour area of Grundarfjördur town, stands a small house named Bjargarsteinn. The house was transported 140 kilometers from Akranes town to its current location, where it has a new role as a restaurant. Bjargarsteinn's m
Food was a struggle in small towns especially for vegetarians in Iceland (us). This meal was not only the best meal we had in Iceland, it was one of the best meals we have ever had, period. The portions were so big I wish we would have split one plate and gotten an extra salad instead because we were so full we could barely walk. Dessert is also divine and not to be missed. Wait staff attentive, and every detail was carefully planned out by this superb team. Make reservations. We would have gone again if we had one more night in this area; it's that good.

Listed under Hotel Budir. We were not able to get a room at the hotel, but loved the restaurant.
We went there for (romantic) dinner in April 2018. We had heard so many praises about the restaurant, we had to check it out. Such a disappointment. We ordered the beef tenderloin, we had no choice but to get it medium done according to the waiter. The dining room looked outdated. When it arrived it was coated in some awful breadcrumbs or parmesan or sth. The service was alright but not good enough to justify the price of the meal. All in all, very disappointing experience.

Samkomuhúsid in Arnarstapi is hosted in an old community house. In 2012 it was open as a restaurant and a café with an Icelandic local food. The beer and other alcoholic drinks are Icelandic, like the Icelandic aquavite BrennivÃn. Samkomuhúsid is homely a
Great escape from the cold in winter. We stopped by after a walk around the peninsula for some tea and pancakes (which were great). Atmosphere is super cosy and there's lot of interesting knick knacks. Very genuine little place, would highly recommend!!

Fosshotel Hellnar presents a lovely little restaurant inside the hotel serving unique Icelandic dishes in a unique atmosphere. The restaurant offers excellent views of Hellnar's beautiful cliffed coasts where Orcas are regularly spotted swimming in the oc
We stayed at the Foss Hotel Hellnar and dined here all three evenings. We were very pleasantly surprised by the high quality of the food! The dining rooms themselves are simple and unpretentious but with beautiful views of the coast below. Service is very friendly. Having three dinners there, we were able to try most items on the small menu - all were delicious. We especially enjoyed their seafood soup and the cod. The mushroom barley risotto was very rich and especially tasty. Highly recommend! Food here was far better than restaurants in Reykjavik!

We absolutely loved this cafe in Hellnar and were so happy we decided to stop on our way through.Beautifully quirky inside with lots of old pictures and a great terrace if it's sunny! Staff were so friendly too.We were the only ones there apart from a lovely young British couple who were working in the hotel round the corner and stopped to chat to us.As it was mid afternoon, we only tried the homemade deserts and coffee and they were absolutely delicious - the happy marriage cake came with a huge dollop of cream and hubby said his strawberry meringue with cream was heaven! Prices are high but that is just typical of Iceland - you can't say no to cake and coffee!!

Very beautiful place, situated picturesque among the cliff, right on the shore. The staff, foreigners girls, were very nice and friendly, good coffee (relatively to Iceland) and good carrot cake. We had a great break here. Not too many places like this one in the island.

This restaurant has a slightly out-of-date feel but the atmosphere is relaxed and almost homely. As part of a group, we sat on individual chairs at a long table and had a standard meal. The fish soup starter was delicious and the cod that followed was tasty and fresh. Free coffee and tea was also available. If you are staying at the hotel you'd be silly to go elsewhere.

We had a wonderful lunch here on a cold rainy day in August. The cozy atmosphere and friendly proprietress and staff were very welcoming! The food was AMAZING! The fish soup was superb, and we sampled a lot of fish soups while in Iceland. This one had a curry flavor. The fish was cooked fresh to order and added to the very delicious soup. Yummy homemade bread was served with it. There are 2-3 sandwiches on the small menu which also looked great! We had to linger with our pits of tea over a very delicious spice carrot cake for dessert. A gem of a cafe!

We thoroughly enjoyed our dinner at Hraun Restaurant in Olafsvik this evening. We started of with some delicious taco scallops which were incredible. Unfortunately, I didn't feel the same way about my fish soup which had a tomato base to it and wasn't that tasty. Then came our entrees which were delicious consisting of the Halibut fish of hte day and the Fish and Chips which were both excellent. We also had a mojito which I didn't care for too much but my prosecco was very nice. Finally, I thought the ambiance of the restaurant and the service from the staff was lovely as well. Overall, this was an above average experience for me which equates to a TA 4 star review.

In a neat little house close to the road just before you enter the town of Hellissandur from the National Park is one of the most exotic resturants in the area. The staff is excellent and the food is very good. The menu is very simple. We had the chefs selection of 3 courses and it was amazing. The interior very clean and bautiful. The view out of the windows exceptional and the sunset the best in iceland (that is when the sun sets).
