We made a family trip to Sorby and stayed in the area. We wanted to try something uniquely Swedish and read the reviews and thought we can't miss. We were right. Great food and some unusual dishes. We would go back again if we come back to this area.

After the incredible number of years in the industry is now making it known the chefs Helen & Jorgen comeback in Kalmar ! Despite Kalmar is one of Sweden's most restaurant dense cities, they felt that something was missing - a real meat tavern! This arous
We chose this restaurant because we were rather keen to eat steak and burgers. A special Thank you to the very helpful waitress Anna whom I spoke to prior to our arrival. She kindly reserved seats at a nice table for us. Upon entering the restaurant guests have the facility to hang their jackets in the main reception area. We were promptly seated. We initially shared our table with another couple who were having evening drinks but they left not long after we arrived which meant we had the whole table to ourselves. Usually I don't like sharing tables but on this occasion I overlooked that inconvenience. We had 3 different people serving us but the lady who we settled our bill with stood out. She was very helpful and welcoming. Her whole demeanour was very professional and attentive combined with an excellent flair of top notch customer service. The sort of waitress I am used to see in 5 star hotels and restaurants in London. Our steaks and burgers were a delightful affair and of good quality. The tasty chocolate mousse rounded off our meal rather well. We'll definitely dine here next time we visit Kalmar.Thank you for your kind words!Anna and Klara, the waitress at the end of your service hope to see you again soon.

We spent here a long, sunny weekend. Walking distance to the main street. The rooms are cozy and spacious enough, with pretty much all that is needed. Bathrooms are shared and with a full house it might take a while in the morning to take a shower. A sun terrace is available. Breakfast is not large, but offers all the typic swedish morning food with delicious home made bread. The restaurant is also good, even though the menu is limited to only 2-3 different options. The waitress was very nice! I would probably stay again.

Now the gates pitched to Kalmar Slott's new restaurant. It serves solid lunches , fabulous pastries, homemade bread and culinary experiences. During the day , our Matcafe open and it served both hot lunch , pastries and sandwiches. Read more here. Evening
This restaurant is located as you enter the castle through the draw bridge. It is easy to miss but don't. The husband (chef) and wife (server) are great. The food is delicious and the setting is beautiful. We had a late lunch and all 4 of us had the chef's suggestion, the white fish. I was a little apprehensive, but he told that if I didn't like it it would be no charge. All 4 of us had the fish and loved it. The wife was great. She was very nice and attentive. All in all this was a great late lunch and I highly recommend eating at Kalmar Slottsrestaurangen. The castle is also a great place to visit.

Friendly and extremly well prepered food. Lots of heart everywhere. Short but very nice winelist. Best in Kalmar?

Place recommended by our hotel and person at the Tourist office. Made a booking. Arrived seated and given menus. Ordered drinks. We were asked about our order before the drinks arrived, felt very rushed. Ordered the salmon and plank steak. Arrived about 5 minutes later. Both were good, but not anything special. Decided against dessert as a large party was being seated as our meal was ending. Perhaps our expectations were too high but this place seemed, for the price, simply average.

A rather retor, functional style and comfy seatings in this reknowned restaurant, recently awarded a star in guide michelin nordic. The menu is a large or smaller sampler course, the dishes always accompanied by local herbs and spices. Servings are the right size, bread and butter with a twist on the side and friendly unobtrusive service will give you a nice evening and value for money?

Very attractive, small restaurant that appeared popular with locals. Service was slow. The turbot and pork entrees were just okay. The beef tartare was very good as was the potato side. The pork rinds were cardboard-like. The gruyere in pastry was tiny and extremely oniony. The wine was okay and beer good.
