I know that this spot is new because the hotel recently changed to Lapland hotels. The service was very good and I was treated really well. The reindeer of the day dish was very tasty. It is cooked two ways and it is just the right portion. I would recommend this place if you want reindeer.
This is the restaurant Kuopio sorely needed. Everything on our plate was basically local ingredients! Fine cooking executed to perfection with creativity. Portion size just right. They make their own gluten free bread which was fantastic. Service was friendly and attentive. Good value for money. Love the wooden touch in the decor and the little lounge at front. If I had to change something it would be the paper napkins. Iâll definitely come back on my next visit to Kuopio!

We visited the restaurant during our stay at hotel Puijonsarvi. The restaurant is downstairs and seemed comfortable. The interior is cosy and they promise to serve "real local food". Because this was a "hotel restaurant" there were quite a lot of business travellers. They have this special card for this hotel chain and there were a lot of discounts & different menus for them. We were "normal tourists" and at first we were not noticed. When we finally got to order, it took a very long time for the foor to arrive. We noticed that the business travellers got their food much quicker. We felt like we were forgotten in the restaurant. The food met the restaurant promise of authentic, real taste. It was delicious and special, not the usual chain restaurant food. Also the service (when we finally got it) was thought through. The waitress talked with the local dialect and it was a very nice, well-thought add to the concept. After finishing the portions we waited again to be served, for almost half an hour. I did not have anything to drink and would have wanted more, also we were thinking of desserts, but no one came to serve us. So when we finally got a contact with a waiter, we just wanted to leave. Totally our visit lasted for about two hours, and we ate one main course plate and drank two drinks! This is not good....

This is a nice restaurant in the center of Kuopio. We shared a nice appetizer and then had a nice perch as a main course. The fish was cooked perfectly and the taste was awsome! Good quality for a reasonable price.

If you love meat, this is the place for you. Big and, safe to say, very meaty portions. However the prices were too high for the quality of food. We took a shared plate with different meats, which tasted okay, nothing really special. The salmon on the plate was something I was really looking forward to, but it was the biggest disappointment. Lacked seasoning and didn't taste fresh at all. We did have a good time and the atmosphere of this restaurant is unique, but I doubt that we'll ever go back.

We had a dinner in this restaurant on our trip to Kuopio. Earlier this was our favorite restaurant, but not anymore. The quality of food was poor, only thing that was on fine dining level were the prices! As a starter we had mousse of smoked fish, that was tasteless, we did not taste fish at all, only the cucumber. Main dishes were still worse: menu promised barbecued beef, but what we got on the plate was a miserable pile of meat that was chuck steak (etuselkä in Finnish). That part is suitable for soups or pots, but not for barbecue. The meat was like rubber and we could not eat it at all (see picture). However, the choice of poor material is good for restaurant's profits: chuck steak costs 11 euros per kilo, versus beef file that would cost 50-60 euros per kilo. The other main was fresh water fish with pees. I got one very little piece pike perch that did not taste anything, maybe because of the blue cheese dressing. The menu promises pees, but there were none. The size of the portion was merely a starter than a main course. The dinner was really disappointing, I would not recommend this place to anybody.

This restaurant is only open for private parties in the evening. About 20 colleagues met for a delicious meal. Lobster soup, duck confit, apple and caramel purée each with a different wine followed by coffee and cognac. Great company and excellent meal. Chef was a previous Finland master chef . Great
