As mentioned by others, this rustic restaurant, which seems part of an alley, serves traditional, plentiful food. We dined outside, and the restaurant was very busy. They have an extensive menu. Oddly, despite the 10 different preparations of potatoes listed on the menu, they only had french fries. Our server disappeared for long periods of time, and it took a very long time for our food to arrive (some entrees came out, then 10 minutes later, another entree, etc.). While waiting for dishes, we enjoyed the strolling trio of musicians. If we had not felt so forgotten, we would have enjoyed this restaurant more.

Relaxing atmosphere and very friendly staff. It's a real pleasure to enjoy a pint or lemonade during the summer. The food is amazing. A lot of fresh, veggie stuff like salads or hummus. My favorite items were the Banana Bread and the Halloumi Burger. It's pretty hard to find The Buffet the first time you go there because it is kind of hidden behind a small park on the way to Baia Mare's Old Center, across the street from something that looks like Saruman's tower. This also makes the place more quiet and relaxing. Thanks Cristian!

We visited Bastion on a cold november evening and it was one of the most pleasant experiences we've had regarding restaurants. The atmosphere was like in a christmas story, with soft lights and gentle ambiental carols. The TV was off, which is quite a rare fact in restaurants, where you go to eat and talk , not to watch 20 different TV shows flickering around you. The waitress was very nice and the house cat in the courtyard was he highlight of the evening for our kids. We ordered vegetable soup, mushroom paprikas with polenta, fried cheese (cascaval pane) with golden potatoes and some chicken strips with sauces. The portions were absolutely huge and the food excellent. It is located in a nice park where you can take a walk after a good meal. We will definitely visit the place again when we are in town.

I had lunch with my extended family. We were all impressed by this place. It is in a historical building, having a nice touch of its specificity. The food was good, and you gotta try the palinca they have there. Exquisite!I truly recommend it!

The venue is located in the centre of Baia Mare at nice big square surrounded with old buildings. Parking is possible on the street. The restaurant has an outdoor and an indoor seating area. We sat outside. The menu is OK and we would have liked to order some food and drinks. We sat there quite a while but nobody came to us and got our order, we left for another restaurant.

Even though the folks working at this cozy coffee shop were limited to just a few words in English, the staff were nonetheless kind and presented me with exactly what I ordered. :-) The ambiance was nice and warm, with soft music and people typing away on their laptops. There were plenty of indoor seats and the bathroom was spotless. The cappuccino was quite tasty.

We had late lunch (early dinner?) at this restaurant situated in a nice square. There were not many people, so the service was timely. My sister and I had ribs. They were broken, not in one piece as usual, and sweet (with ginger?). I didn't like them, my sister did. She said they were delicious. Our vegetarian cousin had pizza and was very happy with it. So was my brother in law who had chicken breast. Daniel had pork meat on black beans, which he found a bit too hot.

We celebrated our anniversary in September, and we had a lovely romantic dinner by the pool. The food was really nice, the service impeccable and the price very good for what they offered. We really recommend Castel Transilvania to everyone visiting Maramures, as it is absolutely stunning. 5*****+
