The Hand & Dagger is a traditional country pub, dog friendly, with an open fire and Beer Garden, enjoying a pretty rural location by the Lancaster Canal at Treales, nr. Kirkham. Serves a range of excellent home-made dishes mixing traditional pub fayre wit
The food was lovely and the waiting staff were very polite. Unfortunately, the yorkshire pudding and gravy slipped off my plate when the waitress was putting it down and landed on the floor via my white top. She apologised and went to get me another one. My top had several gravy marks on it and the back of the chair was covered in gravy. The landlord just walked past and said "oh dear have we had a spillage" When I pointed out it had landed on me and I had gravy on my top he just waltzed off and said "its only a few spots, send me the cleaning bill" in a very sarcastic manner. I'm not sure how you are supposed to bill somebody for something that you will be fixing at home. I found him extremely rude and uncaring and at the very least they could have knocked something off the bill or offered a free drink but absolutely nothing. It's a shame as we have always enjoyed the meals here but it has made me think again about returning especially after reading other reviews about his attitude towards paying customers.

The Derby Arms is a rather handsome partially thatched pub set in the tranquil rural village of Treales near Preston, Lancashire.Inside youâll find open fires, old beams and a great big bar plus the odd twist or two that befits the quirkiness of this beau
Family visit there were 7 of us. We decided on starters and to be fair they were fine. I had the pie for main course as I didn't fancy anything else, there is a lot of chicken on the menu. My pie was dry and the meat was tough I sent it back asking for the pie to be removed. To be fair the manager did offer an alternative but I really didn't want anything else. The others said there meals were okay but I wouldn't return. I was not charged for my meal which was a plus

The Birley is on our list of favourites particularly for entertaining because we know service and food will be good. Additionally there is a good selection of Gluten Free dishes for my Coeliac wife and a picky grandson can find something he can enjoy.Food is fresh and well cooked, whilst the restaurant is comfortable and service unhurried, but efficient.

Friday evening in the Station was a very pleasant experience . Great staff service: friendly and helpful anvery attentive. First course of an antipasto sharing dish exceeded expectations: good quality and nice variety (but bread slightly cold but I'm nitpicking. Main courses likewise pleased the party and when we go back we will be more adventurous. Friday night band very welcome Thank you for your kind review, we're happy to hear that you enjoyed your visit with us, we hope to see you again soon!

Visited in June/July 2019 with family. We were quickly seated in a nice booth beside the bar with a view of the children's entertainment area. Thankfully there's now a soundproof(ish) glass wall between the entertainment bit and the main restaurant seating, so we were able to have a conversation without shouting over the music. The food was nice, the drinks were good, the prices were reasonable. I can't fault it. In fact, I enjoyed the Cherry Bomb cocktail so much that I've bought the ingredients to make my own at home. You can feel the heartburn coming on as you drink it, but oh my, it's beautiful! It's not 'just' a family entertainment venue now, you can go and enjoy a nice meal or a drink without the blast of music from the other side, and I'm sure had my brother and I been 15 years younger, we'd have had a ball in the children's area!

Visited for lunch. Impressed with decor and ambience. For a midweek lunch I was surprised the amount of diners. On being shown to our table we actually waited 30 minutes until our drinks were served. Nothing special 1x water 1xcoke 3x tea, a long time in my opinion. However food orders taken which duly arrived. For the majority of meals costing £12-£14 on average for a pub itâs at the top end of the scale.Burgers come with fries and a small pot of coleslaw and cottage pie comes with a small pot of red cabbage. During the meal no one asked if all was well, no request to see if we required more drinks or on completion of eating our main course no request to see if we wanted a sweet !! Shame Hi weekender48Thank you for your review, it is much appreciated. We take on board your feedback and will pass onto the rest of the team.Kind regards,Sarah
