Things to do in Woodstock
We had been there in 2009 and got back today. 5 years later. It was a great time 5 years ago and a super pleasant stop today. The owner was looking after the snack and drink making chores and happily took the time to share some local info and general conversation of the area. Definitely a great stop 6.5 miles out of town. Get a room in Woodstock, stay the night and come out for some good old country hospitality. Places like this are what we look for rather than the show and shine of the big city life. It's relaxing and doesn't break the bank.
This was the first stop of our 2014 annual train/pub crawl. The Cabin is located right off the historic Woodstock square, tucked into its historic space at 223 Benton Street. It is a bar with a cozy, cabin-like atmosphere. They only serve one thing - Frozen Pizza! This is a small quaint spot for mostly locals. For our group they supplied is with a small buffet of hamburgers, fries, macaroni and cheese, and tostadas. Not sure where they got the food from but it was not very good food and was mediocre at best.
I went to Sofie's during their soft opening. I was VERY impressed with their selection of bourbon (my preference), but also their other whiskeys and wines. The owner Tim and his staff were all knowledgable about drinks, and gave suggestions that were definitely worthwhile.I went to Sofie's again the next week with a special guest. The sandwich and the pizza that we had were hot, fresh, delicious, and large. Well worth the price. Our drinks were great again also.Sofie's has quickly become one of my favorite places to go. Have already recommended the place to many, and will continue to do so.
Have been here a few times. The bartenders are very friendly. The food is good and comes out quickly. The owner, Gus, chats with the customers like they're old friends. Great place for groups or parties. Plenty of TV's if you're looking to watch a game.
Liked the vibe and the prices were fair. Low ceilings, tye-dye hippie decor, but still got to watch the NCAA tourney while listening to some good tunes. Staff was very friendly, and the longer we were there the more we enjoyed it. I'd sure go back.

Food is always high quality and very tasty. Looks like a great north woods restaurant right here in Woodstock. Large portions, very reasonably priced and happy atmosphere. Friday fish fry outstanding!!

We had been here previously and were not impressed, but thought that we would give Niko's another try. Once again...we were disappointed. We had the meatloaf sliders which had a piece of tasteless meatloaf, what tasted like instant mashed potaotes on top and jarred gravy. We also ordered the Italian beef egg rolls which were better, but just so-so.We would not return to Niko's...there are too many other options in Woodstock :(

Three people for burgers with one appetizer, no dessert and no alcohol and we wound up with an 80$ bill. I canât imagine what a family of four with a drinker or two would be! So this would have to be a special occasion type place rather then a weekend dinner type place. We enjoy the pretzel appetizer (there were only three pieces of pretzel but they were warm and it was perfect for our group). We had one vegetarian that really enjoyed the impossible burger! We really liked the tator tots and side salad. The lemonade was okay. The only item we did not enjoy was the cheese curds, and I never thought I would ever say that! They were just bland and too much strange batter. Super cute light bulbs, and I appreciated the MTV throwbacks I missed in my cable-less childhood.
