Regatta Bar & Grille

A la carte breakfasts are going the way of the telephone booth. Most people are content to graze on the buffet line welcoming the lack of waiting and filling their plates to the brim. We usually prefer a la carte, and here this means cooked to order. Eggs Benedict; French toast with strawberries. Not bad. Not great. A typical hotel breakfast, made somewhat better by a cheery hotel staff. Juice and coffee, again, acceptable, but not premium.

Wings, ribs, mac and cheese, fried chicken, salads... there's a varied menu here and it's all very well done. Look for the special theme nights... Taco Tues, Wings on Wed (trivia too). Nice atmosphere, good service, easy parking.Tonight, tacos, salmon entree, Mediterranean salad... all excellent. Nice beers.

Central House

No disparagement of your Grandad meant... I just wanted to illustrate that Central House has changed its identity in significant ways. For one thing, the food is great. Like, seriously good. Fish chowder, Lobster Roll, Fish and Chips, Clam Roll, Burgers... all, every dish, delicious and fresh. Even the sour mix for the Margaritas is house-made. (Ask for a 'Boro specialty, a "Nancy Margarita," and you won't be disappointed! )And for another thing, this place was filled not just with locals having a post-work aperatif, but with retired couples enjoying their dinner, young couples enjoying an affordable date night, and golf enthusiasts watching the PGA .The management here has really invested time, money, and imagination in producing a quality experience for patrons. Color me very impressed. Kate,Thank you so much for your kind words, really means a lot to me to see that people recognize all the hard work I've put in over the years. To have it plastered on the internet for all to see nearly brings tears to my eyes. Thank you thank you thank you, reviews like this keep me going.

Civic Kitchen & Drink

Reviewed By NewEnglandGoodLife

We were excited to try Civic for its focus on being farm to table. We were surprised to learn that it is the clubhouse restaurant at a local golf course. This didn't dissuade us, but we aren't accustomed to eating out on the links. The atmosphere is clean if a bit spartan. Located in an old house, the walls have been rearranged to create large openings, but the tables in the dining room are split up and you can tell that there were multiple first floor rooms in this old home. The walls are decorated with antique photos from Westborough, which create a local interest. The floors are hardwoord and there are austere blinds on the windows. Thus, the dining room is a bit noisy as the sound ricochets off the hard surfaces. Needless to say, we could hear each other fine but we want to note it for those who may be sensitive to this. The cocktail program was intriguing. They covered their bases on all spirits, but bourbon and gin drinkers had multiple options. The wine list was adequate but a bit limited on options by the glass. They have multiple craft beers offered. The menu is diverse and they highlight their sources, which include multiple local farms for both meat as well as vegetables. We love this about them. The smoked gouda mac and cheese was a nice twist on the original. The arancini had a nice, fall spiciness to them. The scallops were perfectly seasoned and cooked. The spaetzel underneath was adorned with fresh winter vegetables and felt very light and healthy, even though it is winter. There was a buttery vinaigrette on it, however, the flavor was so delicate it was not noticeable. The tacos were tasty and the meatballs were well made. We ordered a side of truffle mashed potatoes and were a little disappointed -- the potatoes were fine, however the truffle flavor was so light and mild, it was barely detectable. The desserts were delicious; we ordered a blondie with ice cream and a blood orange cheesecake. The blondie was brought in from a local bakery, another local detail we feel compelled to mention in a positive way. We will return to Civic, as we enjoyed ourselves, the food, and the atmosphere. There are multiple menu items intriguing us, however the teens didn't enjoy it as much. They felt limited with the menu and we will probably return as a couple to enjoy the bar area or outdoor seating on our second visit.
