Find out what Pub restaurants to try in Utrecht. This ancient and historic city houses many buildings going back to the early Middle Ages. Until it was overtaken by Amsterdam in the Dutch Golden age, Utrecht was the most important city in the Netherlands. It was and still is the See of the Archbishop of Utrecht, the most important Catholic leader in the Netherlands. The University of Utrecht is the largest in the Netherlands. One of the unique features of the city is the wharf system in its inner canals. Before the city was fully canalized, parts of the Rhine River flowed through the city center. Most prominent of the historic buildings is the Gothic Cathedral of Saint Martin, the construction of which lasted for almost 200 year, beginning in 1254.

Good food & good beer is what Belgie is all about. 20 taps and a huge bottle selection of international beers.
extensive bottled belgian list and a good tap list of at least 20 beers, many unusual. Great bar tender, who of course spoke immaculate English and was very helpful. Handful of locals outside were initially sort of intimidating but they provided some entertainment. Didn't get any food, but didn't want any. Was there strictly for the beer. Weirdquirky decor - plastic snakes hanging off the lights and a large shark on the wall. But if you like Belgians, this is a good place to visit.

We were recommended this bar by the lady in the tourist information office, it was a wet Monday in Utrecht and most museums etc were closed. She gave excellent advice because we loved it. The cafe is in a converted church, dominated by a central bar, serving an amazing array of beer. The staff were very knowledgable and happy to make suggestions. We also tried the bitterballen to soak up the beer and they were excellent, freshly made and tasty. The chips were good too, the waiter forgot to order the chips for us and when reminded, they arrived promptly and on the house. Excellent service. We didn't have more substantial meals, but looking at the plates being delivered around us, they looked very appetising.I really liked it here and will definitely return. Lovely place.

We managed to get a table in the bar area, hidden away in a quiet corner. It made a big difference to usual - it's very noisy, sometimes unbearably so. Food and drinks were nice although the veggie menu was very boring this time. Staff are always lovely.

Cafe de Vingerhoed is only 100 meters away from the Dom Tower in Utrecht central and prefered mostly by locals. It may have the best location comparing to the other locals' favourites. They have very helpful employees and if you sit at the bar you have a very nice talk with barmaids and barmen. The food is always delicious and I advise Hertog Jan White Beer for a drink. If you sit on the window side you have a view of Oudegracht (the famous canal). Keep in mind that the place is crowded in the evening and it would be a good idea to reserve a table.

This is a great place to sit down and enjoy authentic German food. The personnel are friendly and all is served rather quickly The fun part is that we took our Austrian business associates out, so we had to walk further afterwards for some authentic Dutch beer. As usual along the canal, there is outdoor and indoor seating, outdoor preferred here.
