This pub was packed when we arrived on a Friday night but luckily we had booked a table. The menu is extensive but not overwhelming. The food was plentiful....I had mussels as a starter and husband had the whitebait and we were glad there was a respite before our mains arrived. Next time weâll share a starter! Both our meals were delicious and sadly we were too full for pudding, though they looked fab. Better than average pub food, freshly cooked. Very pleasant staff

Freehouse Pub in the Good Beer Guide 2020. Food Served Thursday - Saturday 12-2pm & 6-8pm. Sunday Lunch Served 12-2pm. Booking Advisable.
We ended our holiday on a high with a great family meal at the Hind. We received a really warm welcome and service was great. All our meals were fantastic, really good home cooked pub food and generous portions. Our son loved the home made chicken nuggets. Don't drive by this pub...you'd miss a gem!

16th Century Coaching Inn commands an enviable position, conveniently situated on the main A35 where Devon & Dorset meet, between the bustling market town of Axminster, and the beautiful seaside town of Lyme Regis, the gateway to the Jurassic Coast.
My sister has lived 300 yards from this pub for over 25 years so I have visited often and always found food and service good. However on my sisters birthday 22.09.19 the food was adequate but the service was very poor 0ne meal was suppose to have had bread had to ask for it, had to ask for spoons to eat desert.did not get an ordered drink and would have liked coffee but was not offered. May be better on the week but would not go on a Sunday.

The Cobb Arms Is No Longer Owned By Mr And Mrs Mcclements But Has New Owners As Of The 13TH Nov 2017
Love the new menu but tonight had fish and chips which were lovely. My partner had pork scratchings with apple sauce as a snack starter, he followed this with belly pork with a pulled pork croquette, applewood mash and vegetables with gravy, good hearty food which he enjoyed. The staff were attentive and very pleasant.

This place is a very popular eating place. We hadn't booked for dinner and it was full but luckily we had arrived late enough for some early diners to have finished and left. The menu is surprisingly good and varied. It has the usual pub grub but some excellent other dishes. My wife had the steak, I had the mussels, both cooked perfectly and v tasty. I'd tossed up between that and Scallops with Black pudding & cauliflower. The beers are good, the wines ok but somewhat restricted in range. Highly recommended but suggest you play safe and book.

The Volunteer Inn is a family-run, seventeenth century pub located in the heart of Lyme Regis in Dorset. One of the only remaining pubs on the high street, The Volunteer sells a range of local ales and ciders and has been a regular in the Good Beer Guide
This pub has real character and a great selection of cask ales. A great place for a couple or three pints during the evening. The staff and clientele add to a very warm welcoming atmosphere and the beer is just delicious.

Visited on Tuesday evening the day after a bank holiday. No problem booking for a party of five. We arrived early but the table was ready, we were warned that there might be a slight wait for food but it didnât seem that there was. Everyone was very happy with their food, my wife declared the steak and ale pie to be a new high point (and she is something of a steak and ale pie connoisseur) and my 6 year old daughter was delighted with her ham, egg and chips - the ham was very thick. Desserts were also very good. The land lady came over for a chat and all the staff were friendly and did their jobs well. Hi BourbondunkerThank you for taking the time to review our pub.We are delighted that your family enjoyed the food they chose, and we are happy to know that you found our staff friendly and efficient. Your comments are very much appreciated. Please do visit us again if you are in our part of the world.Kindest regardsWendy

Set at the edge of the beach in the beautiful and historic coastal town of Lyme Regis, the Pilot Boat has just been relaunched following a nine-month project by Palmers Brewery to rejuvenate the iconic grade II listed building back to life as a lifestyle
Pretty average all round. Service was good enough but the starter poor to be honest, a charcuterie board had a few slices of ham/salami/chorizo from a packet and the main wasn't much better, the seafood platter consisting of smoked salmon (presumably from a packet), some dressed crab meat and some shell on prawns. And a lot of bread. Nothing I couldn't have rustled up in 5 minutes at home with some scissors for the packets and a plate. It was ok, not bad or terrible but I expected a bit better for a Lyme Regis restaurant and wouldn't go back.Kids scampi and chips was good.
