Tongeren is the oldest town in Belgium, as the only Roman administrative capital within the country's borders. As a Roman city, it was inhabited by the Tungri, and known as Atuatuca Tungrorum, it was the administrative centre of the Civitas Tungrorum district. The city is a member of the Most Ancient European Towns Network.

Om 14u45 gaan zitten, waren maar 3 tafels bezet, wel 4 tafels waar leeggoef op stond, uitbater een keer of 4 op terras geweest, ons bekeken, terug binnen gegaan, om 15u05 wordt eindelijk bestelling opgenomen en om 15u10, 25 minuten na aankomst, bestelling gekregen

This was a fantastic hotel. I booked for a girl's weekend away, and was very pleased with the food, staff and comfortable room. Located on the main square, it was IDEAL for the antiques market on Sunday. We ate dinner at the restaurant and it was excellent. Parking was steps away in the nearby garage and could not have been more convenient. Continental breakfast was large and provided many healthy options. Staff helpful and courteous. Provided free wifi. We would definitely return.

Stopped here to watch a world cup match with beer and dinner expecting very little, but the Tungris beer on draft was great and to our surprise the 10 Euro meal specials were really well cooked - nothing fancy but the accompaniment which can so often be just slop proved to include quality potatoes and home-style endives cooked to perfection. Service unusually friendly and obliging for such a place. Would heartily recommend this cafe for an unpretentious, good value meal.

It's a beautiful and very warm pub. They offer you special Belgian beers from tap or bottle. You also can eat little snacks and even having a good meal at democratic prices. The staff is very polite, very helpful. They have knowledge of the beers and the food that they offer you. Service is excellent. To say it in one word:superb
