Finally, a bison burger done right!Usually itâs quite dry and weâre told it because itâs naturally lean and better for oneâs heart. But bison/American Buffalo is like beef: it depends on what cut is used and what blend of cuts as well. Exactly the right cuts of bison are served here and for optimal results. By the way, I have enjoyed bison steak in the past and observe oneâs experience depends on how itâs prepared. This was the first bison burger Iâve truly enjoyed. In fact, it bested all but one out of 55 local, non fast food burgers Iâve sampled recently, almost all of them beef. It was juicy, nuanced, utterly complemented by its ingredients (candied bacon, truffles, arugula, roasted garlic aioli and my substitution of pepper jack cheese for the aged provolone it normally comes with) so that the final product is a masterpiece. House made fries with the skin on, seasoned with Parmesan, sea salt and herbs provided a delightful side. Everything was utterly perfect. While at $26 it was the most expensive of all Iâve tried so far with only nine restaurants that serve burgers left to sample in the entire region, it delivered masterfully. I fully expected to be disappointed mostly because of the perception that âbuffaloâ canât compete with beef. Ascent got off to a poor first impression because, in the interest of fairness to all establishments, judging each burger on its own merits rather than house ambiance, I always order to go and was told this could not happen from the Ascent Lounge unless i ordered through room service who told me it would take 30 minutes. For a rare cooked burger? I decided to go in and reserved that annoyance as a potential mark against Ascent. All was forgotten as my burger arrived quickly, served up by a most congenial and professional bartender, along with unasked-for ketchup even though a burger of this caliber doesnât need it; it was premium customer service in serving a most premium product, even if âmerely a burger.â Not treated as substandard cuisine, as hoi polloi or only fit for the masses, it exists as a high water mark in the realm of bison burgers. Generally, while I believe a burger that needs bacon to bolster its impact is not allowing the ground meat to represent itself, the overall composition of this ensemble is all but unbeatable. The other menu offerings look wonderful though I have not sampled them. For me, this burger last week was simply spectacular. I hope you discover it.

Located within the Snake River Lodge but is a separate eating establishment from Game Fish, a restaurant you do have listed in the Snake River Lodge.
Tried a trout and crabcake sandwich with huckleberry cole slaw! Other items liked good as well. Thought I was in the mood for a burger but sandwich I chose sounded different than anything I'd had before so I was glad for a new experience!

Went to this restaurant after checking into our room for a quick bite. The restaurant had maybe 5 other customers and what I would expect to be a quick turn around for 2 burgers, 1 chicken sandwich and a flat bread, didnât happen. The service was slow and then to top it off, I never received my meal. Upon receiving our food, I noticed that my burger and my sonâs burger have the toppings mixed up. The manager offered to make it right (heâs the one who brought out our food) and I was like no big deal and we swapped the burgers ourselves (I hate to make a fuss). My son picked off the onions. However once he started eating it, he couldnât because it was too burnt. I swapped back with him and thought he was just being dramatic. After I tried to bite into it, I realized he wasnât being dramatic. It wasnât edible. We notified our server (from Bulgaria) to let her know that Iâd like another one because itâs not edible. Twenty five minutes go by, without really any servers in the dining area (probably in the back doing end of shift things, as it was about to close in the next hour) and our server finally appears and ask if we wanted our check. We said yes but take my meal off, because we never got a replacement and it wasnât edible. She brings the check, this is where it gets funny, and my meal is still on the check. I mentioned she was from Bulgaria so maybe thereâs a language barrier, is what we are thinking, so my husband says we arenât paying for it, she never got her meal. Her reply, we are making one for you to take with you. Lol, like that is a reasonable solution. I said I donât want it, I didnât get to eat with my family. I canât believe she thought that this was a viable solution, a to go burger at cost. At this point, we ask to talk to the manager. (Iâm assuming she didnât want to involve him to remove it from our check). He comes over and at first no apology, so that didnât make things better. After he took it off our check and came back, he did offer an apology and a 15% discount on our bill, so like $4 discount for our long wait and poor service.

Our group of four topped in on a Monday, early evening for dinner. It is located pretty close to the town square by many other restaurants and shops. We were seated right away although service throughout our experience was a little slow. The restaurant was clean with table seating.I had the Nooner burger which had egg, hash brown, bacon, and ham. My wife had the Shroom which had a big onion ring on it. Both were excellent. We saw the size of an order of fries at a table beside us, so knew to order just one to split between us. Sides were extra. Prices were reasonable ($11 and $12 burgers.)Would definitely eat here again.
