A few weeks ago the Rotary Club of Tain and Easter Ross met at the St Duthus for a Thursday evening meeting. We all chose from the standard menu. The portions were excellent, the food well cooked and the staff as friendly and helpful as ever.

Back to its Best. We use all local produce and have resurected this restaurant back to its glory days. Our aim is to use fresh local produce at a reasonable price. Our Sunday carvery now boasts an average attendance of 100 plus and all for £12.95
No kerb appeal. Grounds /gardens shamefully neglected. Front entrance poorly maintained with badly chipped door paintwork which was also filthy with dirty fingerprints. Reception area tired with absolutely filthy carpets. Whole place badly in need of maintenance & a decent clean. Staff a little disengaged (& what's with the bizarre aprons?) although most of the younger staff were pleasant. Food...like the decor, was tired - not totally unpleasant, but nothing special. However - the most memorable part of our visit has to be the overwhelming stench of sewage in the dining room.We won't be back and certainly wouldn't recommend to anyone. I only hope that the accommodation is in a better state than the public areas... but somehow, I doubt it

We were recommended the place and we expected the typical hotel dinner, but I have to admit that we were happily surprised. We had mussels, cooked with the perfect timing, with an incredible sauce that we ended up taking like a soup, The rissoto was also wonderful but what really made it incredible was the salmon on a lentils base which was cooked to perfection!!!Worth every single pound we paid for. The service was ok but it could improve a bit as they were a bit harsh at the start, perhaps we were not dressed for the ocasion on a Golf Hotel, although as the dinner went on they became more friendly. One of the best meals we had in Scotland,
