Meeting up with old friends is a great joy, we always meet at this venue. There were six of us for a lunch time meet up.The staff couldnât be faulted, very helpful and informative.I didnât want starters, but chose the Old Spot sausage with mash and onions and gravy, made from beef dripping. This was a great flavour every bit was eaten.Mt dessert was coffee (latte) and a mini dessert of salted caramel profiteroles. All was well presented. My friends choices were the liver and bacon, fish and chips and lasagna, dessert choices included, salted caramel brownie, winter berries mess (Eaton Mess) and creme brûlée.Everyone enjoyed their meals, we will meet up again same place in few months time. One thing to note. Some of the meals came in smaller sizes, great for those with limited appetite.Thank you Coach and Horses.Dear Maureen,Many thanks for firstly choosing us to dine at and secondly for such a lovely review and for taking the time to do this.Such feedback always boosts the team morale and mine as well, so I deeply thank you for your comments and we hope that you will dine with us again soon.Kind regardsEmma

Arrived for Saturday and were not disappointed. Service excellent. Ordered the burger with delicious âdirtyâ fries; and the battered haddock with extra large chips. Both very tasty and good sized portions. Well recommended - only problem is car parking as small car park and half road/half pavement seemed the only other option!

Dropped in on the way to Stansted Airport, were looking for lunch on a Monday and had some time to spare. Was a distance from the M11 and possibly is overlooked as there is another pub on the corner of the lane leading to the Moor Hen (closed on a Monday). Large car park, could see various activities for younger people and canal boats moored up. The garden area is probably very busy in the summer. Dinning is upstairs, plenty of room for us (5 eating), extensive menu (suiting all tastes) and wide range of drinks. Lunch time it is 2 for 1 on a range of meals. We were seated promptly and given our menus. We ordered drinks and meals. All came promptly and well presented. The Mac n'cheese (with bacon) was enjoyed, I liked my hunters chicken and Mr S enjoyed his steak and ale pie. Cant fault the service or the value. Would definitely return, and worth the detour to avoid Birchanger fast food. Jordon was our server and looked after us well.Hi juliasJ111OT,Wow, what a lovely review! Our team here work extremely hard to deliver our guests a great experience and we are delighted to hear that your visit lived up to your expectations and oursI will make sure this feedback is shared with the whole team, especially our amazing chefs and Jordan, who looked after you so well.We would like to get some more feedback to try and see what we could have improved on to change your review to a 5* one. Please feel free to call us on 01279 423066 if we can be of any assistance in the future or just pop in next time you are passing through.Thank you so much for taking the time to write this lovely review, we hope to see you again soon.

We regularly drink and snack here to support local pub and it is generally good. Staff are efficient but one thing that is often an issue here is that menu items are often not available and the long wait on food time - today (BH Monday) being our longest yet at nearly an hour and a half which we were warned when ordering but then food arrived staggered over 15 minutes so we couldnt eat together and the quality was poor which again was unusual especially after the wait time and the pub barely full. We have off days but the guy serving food disappeared so no apology and a wait at the bar for accompanying sauces. HiI am sorry to hear of your poor experience with us. I would be happy to discuss this further with you if you are able to call me on 01279 836118 so we can find out what happened and how we can improve out service going forward.Kind regardsJohn

We arrived 10 minutes early, got seated straight away, but had to wait an extra 10 minutes for our order to be taken. several times the waitress said she would be with us but never turned up.The meal was average pub fayre and I wouldn't give it a very high rating.A word of warning if you are driving, there are a couple of items on the desert menu, sorbets that include a shot of alcohol that could take you over the limit. This is not made clear on the menu, I gave the drink to my partner.Hi Ken MThank you for visiting the DM and for taking the time to share your comments. We are sorry you had to wait for your order to be taken on your recent visit and we apologise for the misunderstanding on the sorbet and rum combination which is blood orange sorbet with morgan spiced rum.We are also sorry you felt we are only average pub fayre but we hope that you enjoy your future lunches elsewhere, but if you ever change your mind about visiting us again, I hope that you will see the high standards of food and service we can offer hereAll the best Christopher Cleary

We are a real ale pub, serving a great selection of beers, ales and ipa. There is also a dining room situated upstairs. Fresh, home cooked food is served, in a quirky, relaxed atmosphere.
We dined here based on a recommendation. We weren't disappointed. 24 covers only in 2 rooms upstairs. Small and quite intimate. Good service. Absolutely stunning food. I had crayfish cocktail for starter, lamb for mains and stocky toffee pudding for desert. The crayfish wad sooooooo tasty. The lamb was pink and cooked to perfection. The desert was awesome. We were given bread with a garlic and herb butter to start along with a smallvbreadcrumb fish ball something. Complimentary and a lovely touch. The overall experience was really positive. With 2 or 3 bottles of wine the bill for 2 was ££100. Not bad for superb food. We will be back!

I went for Sunday lunch. The location is fantastic and the restaurant is well designed with soft background music. We had the roast beef which was nice. The beef itself was cooked perfectly as requested and very tasty. The vegetables were very nice, maybe a few more on the plate would have been lovely. The price for a three course Sunday lunch was good value.

Met with friends here (two vegetarians). Nice pub, decent parking. We had steak pie, roast lamb, sea bass and cod/chips. We all enjoyed our food. Seemed fresh cooked (roast potatoes and veg definitely not frozen or pre-cooked). Reasonably priced. Would definitely return if local (we met half way between Surrey and Suffolk,Wish this pub was within 30 minutes of home, would go weekly). Recommend Hi There, Thanks for your review. It wonât be long and you wonât be able to get a table here for weeks/months! Never been before and never heard of it before but I will be going back again and again, great classic British food, good beer and great Gin!!! Staff were amazing, food was better than most places you'll ever eat in London....Simply a must place to go to get away from all the average chain restaurants and pubs around. The best place Iâve eaten in a long time.
