While it's sad to leave the island paradise of Aruba, stopping in at One Happy Bar while you wait for your departure at the airport makes it much less painful! The staff and bartenders are amazing and oh so friendly. The "One Happy Island" is translated well into this "One Happy Bar"! we enjoyed drinks and some of their sandwiches while we waited for departure. They sell t-shirts there ---- gotta have one!!!!!

Charlieâs Bar & Restaurant was founded on September 18, 1941 by a Dutch couple, Charles and Marie Brouns. They chose their location in San Nicolas as it was close to the large Lago Refinery: this provided a steady stream of clientele in the form of seamen
You to be an all time favorite (Year 2002) This year (May 2019) things have changed at Charlies Bar. The bar tender did not have excess to the retail store. Where we would have loved to get some t-shirts and souveniours So we could not get any souveniours.. we are not able to travel to Aruba every year. Our friends will never have Charlies t-shirts. Food - we had steamed shrimp - small portions and was not fresh. Had reaction following day. Would not go to Charlies again.

Aruban Rumshop meets Gastro pub with a nice assortment of Craft Beers and best wings on the island.
Reasonable priced, excellent food, great craft beer selection with a great mix of locals, tourist and expats and the local motorcycle gang. They often throw great parties with live bands and the waiters are super nice, although I think they are somewhat understaffed.

We ate here 3 times in our short week vacation in Aruba. Real Dutch food : Zuurkool, Boerenkool, Hutspot with rook worst, excellent french fries and great "bitterballen". Seating is mostly outside. Located near the urgent care. Seats are a bit hard. Lots of Dutch people frequent this place.

Alfie's is Aruba's only Canadian pub! We are serving up classic Canadian pub fare, including our signature 8 oz. Angus beef sirloin burgers, wings, and poutine! With local pricing, Thursday Ribs Night, a wide selection of craft beers, a full bar, & live m
Totally worth getting away from the high-rise area to find this place. The spicy maple chicken wings were a good starter for a great bowl of poutine. Comfort food at its finest. Good service and the owner even stopped out to chat.

This local hang-out (calling it a bar-restaurant is an overkill) was recommended by some locals to try the local mussels. Going there with the right spirit, we found the experience colorful and fun. The "bar-restaurant" is essentially one room with a big pool table in the middle, a few scattered chairs and the bar where everything happens - no sitting for the food, if you are lucky you find a high chair available around the bar.The level of noise was overwhelming, and communication with the barman-owner (a chinese lady screaming her lungs out to get the right people's attention) was fairly impossible, we were lucky to sit next to a very nice local lady who communicated in Papiamento (I think) and translated for us. The place was crowded, with a mix of locals and tourists, the median age was likely around 70-75. Locals know better to call before and order their food (of course, they are able to communicate with the barman), we ended up waiting almost one hour for the take-away food we ordered, and a couple of beers helped with the wait. The mussels were huge, bigger than I thought exist, one of them would be enough to fill a small sandwich, they came in some sort of unidentifiable Chinese-type sauce. We ordered two mussels dishes with fries (I think), with six beers the bill was USD 28, higher than I thought but I am not sure I understood the menu correctly. All in all it was fun, discovering we still have a sense of adventure and maintain a positive attitude toward unexpected cultural challenges makes us feel young.
