Went last night a ploughmans for me steak salad for my wife. We did not have starter but glad we did not. Huge portions my wife expected strips of steak with the salad but it was a full steak. Ploughmans was salad, pork pie, homemade scotch egg, 2 huge pieces of cheese, 2 thick slices of ham, chips onions a 2 lots of relish. All really nice.Only downside was a party for 11yr olds that was pretty noisy but not that bad.Lovely attentive service from the hard working staff.A really good choice we must visit again to sample more of the many choices available. What we saw served to other people looked excellent as well

Visited today and was greeted by friendly helpful staff. Food service given by Lewis and Rovena was excellent. Complements to the Chief for the superb dishes that were served, we could not fault anything. Lot of choice and specials available. This is a lovely coaching type Inn with lots of ambience inside.Although we live quite a long drive away, having visited on a Travelzoo voucher deal, but we will definitely go back.Thank you so much, I will ensure Lewis and Rowena see your review :o)

I've visited this pub several times and never been disappointed, lunch or dinner. Today called in for a light lunch. Lovely building retaining a traditional feel. Today there were welcoming.Friendly staff and very good selection of beers. The menu is extensive with some interesting specials. A table in one of the snugs was chosen and food ordered. The restaurants were averagely busy but our food arrived promptly. Weĺl presented, good portions, perfectly cooked. Maybe some will want more frills. I could come here far more often and not tire of their fare.Prices are reasonable.

Visited the Hunters on their re-opening weekend after being closed for refurbishment. I brought some of my family with me as i had been telling them about how the Hunters had improved dramatically. As now is the norm the staff were fantastic. So friendly and attentive. The food was very good too. However one little personal comment, all of the salads have now been removed from the Autumn menu and i myself love a good chicken Caesar salad (with anchovies) all year round. I understand that salads are not necessarily part of an autumn / winter menu for many people but for me a special salad of the day maybe would still be a great addition to the menu. Just a thought? xThank you for taking the time to leave us a review and we welcome all feedback, we have put a salad on our specials board which will change weekly from now on, we look forward to seeing you soon. Many Thanksthe Hunters

The Hand & Dagger is a traditional country pub, dog friendly, with an open fire and Beer Garden, enjoying a pretty rural location by the Lancaster Canal at Treales, nr. Kirkham. Serves a range of excellent home-made dishes mixing traditional pub fayre wit
The food was lovely and the waiting staff were very polite. Unfortunately, the yorkshire pudding and gravy slipped off my plate when the waitress was putting it down and landed on the floor via my white top. She apologised and went to get me another one. My top had several gravy marks on it and the back of the chair was covered in gravy. The landlord just walked past and said "oh dear have we had a spillage" When I pointed out it had landed on me and I had gravy on my top he just waltzed off and said "its only a few spots, send me the cleaning bill" in a very sarcastic manner. I'm not sure how you are supposed to bill somebody for something that you will be fixing at home. I found him extremely rude and uncaring and at the very least they could have knocked something off the bill or offered a free drink but absolutely nothing. It's a shame as we have always enjoyed the meals here but it has made me think again about returning especially after reading other reviews about his attitude towards paying customers.

We decided last minute to go out for lunch while visiting my parents. We hadn't booked but we were given a table for a couple of hours which suited us. We used to live locally about 10 years ago and this place has changed dramatically. It is warm, modern and I love open kitchens. The menu is so varied and they could cater very easily for mine and my dads food intolerances. All the soups are vegan and mine was delicious. My dad opted for halloumi kebabs but as he has a wheat intolerance he didn't want the wraps bit these were replaced with chips. I wasn't particularly hungry so I opted for the calamari starter as my main course. The portion was generous and the calamari was tender. My mum loved her vegetarian falafel dish which came with a stew, flat bread, cous cous and houmous. It was a really generous size. My husband enjoyed his turkey roast dinner but he did say the goats cheese starter with onions and beetroot was one of the best goats cheese starters he had. My daughter was given a little kit of activities and colouring to keep her occupied. She loved her chicken goujons and chips, she actually finished all her chicken and found room for a chocolate brownie with ice cream. My parents really enjoyed the food and they said they will pop back in the next few weeks. The service was impeccable throughout the meal. Good morning,This is a wonderful review to read - thank you so much for the 5 stars! We are so happy to hear that you enjoyed your family visit and loved our soup, Halloumi Kebab, falafel, calamari and of course our Goats cheese!! Thank you :)We will pass on your amazing feedback to the team and hope to be able to welcome you back again very soon..

Came here a few weeks ago. Rang ahead to make sure they were still serving the beef and booked a table. Took the dog who is welcomed albeit him not liking other dogs coming up to him and hence barked at the landlords spaniel (sorry about that). The roasts dinners I have to say are fantastic, slow cooked and tender beef. Fantastic mash and roasties. Lovely yorkshire puddings and lovely veg too, extra gravey was no problem and all for £12.95.It was so nice we ve already been back for another treat last week.

A charming village pub located in beautiful Lancashire countryside. With three open fires you'll always be able to keep warm in winter plus our extensive beer garden and Camp site offers comfortable seating with glorious views. A perfect place to enjoy a
Decidedly average; beef and fish were off - awaiting deliveries - and whilst our friendâs chicken pie was excellent, my partnerâs Portabello Mushroom burger was dry and disappointing and my Cumberland Swirl sausage turned out to be three over-cooked links. Presentation was average too - my vegetables were just carrots. We clearly visited on an off day, given other glowing reviews.
