Sitting only 18 miles South of the US border with Quebec, Plattsburgh was once a major hub in the fur trade with Montreal. The city is made for walking, full of beautiful turn of the century buildings and manicured parks. A River Walk follows the Saranac River as it cuts through town, ending at the shores of Lake Champlain, home to Champy, the American cousin of the Loch Ness Monster. The surrounding area is part of Adirondack Park, America's largest wilderness preserve outside of Alaska.

An old fire station converted into a quaint, quiet family restaurant. There is a bar in front with some tables for the bar crowd and a dining room for the average patron. I have only eaten lunch there. They have good American home-style food at very reasonable prices. The service has always been better than average. Half a block off the main street, it appears to be mostly a local crowd. It is definitely not too touristy but is well kept and unique. I have never had bad food or bad service. It is a 5 in every category.
Was looking for a place for a cocktail before heading back to hotel, & found this perfectly pleasant bar. Great to hang out, not enough craft brews & taps (mainly corporate taps, unfortunately), and not really much of a whiskey selection, though still, great bartender, very cool hang-out bar. Seems to me it is under-rated for what it is, very welcoming.
Run down little dive, friendly folks but the interior was falling apart. Bartender didn't know how to make a few standard drinks, but we were satisfied with the ones we got. It was an ok experience, but a little further down the road has a lot more to offer.

Olive Ridley's Taphouse & Grill Restaurant and Lounge is a hometown restaurant and lounge that provides fresh, handcrafted food and live entertainment!
We stopped in late to hear the end of a fabulous music set by a local dance band. The friendliest waitress in New York State worked the busy bar with incredible energy, competence and a perpetual smile. The pub food was excellent with enormous portions. Beer on tap was excellent. We appreciate your kind review and hope you return soon.

The Monopole has been around since before Teddy Roosevelt visited Plattsburgh and enjoyed either food or drink at this establishment. The Monopole offers a good selection of beers as well as pub food like pizza and wings. The classic bar offers folks downtown a place to enjoy an adult beverage. Although itâs definitely more a bar than an eatery, one can soak in some of the history of old downtown Plattsburgh that hasnât really changed much over the years. Not a place for kids, but most afternoons, itâs a quiet spot for those looking to throw back a pint and then continue on with whatever else they need to do in the city. Their pizza and wings are quite good.

Twisted Comfort Food
Had lunch with six other colleagues. Place was a little busy, maybe twenty patrons. Only one waitress working, she had one helper. Service was super slow, took more than half an hour yo get our food. Not the waitressâ fault, she was running all over the place. Really feel bad for her. The food was okay, had the cheese streak Mac. It was tasty but very filling. I was done after only half the dish. Tried the clam chowder, it was very creamy and very little clams. Not bad but will not go out of the way to eat here again. Interesting decorations with old lunch boxes and posters.

Sip is just about to celebrate their one year anniversary. We stopped by this weekend for a beer and an appetizer. Very nice! They offer about a half dozen selections of draft beers that are typically not found elsewhere. Their Sweet Potato Nachos were to die for. Delish! Very friendly service. The decore makes it a comfortable spot to stop into for a drink or a bite to eat. My only complaint, and I had the same issue with their predecessor The Bagel Pit when they occupied this space, is that itâs cold inside. The front door, everytime it is open, letâs winter in at full force. Of course, this isnât an issue during the warmer months of the year. My solution would be to construct a curtain near the door to help block out the cold as guests come and go. Even with this complaint, we plan to be return customers due to all the positives Sip has.

We love craft beer and are always changing our taps. We serve specialty pizzas, burgers and sandwiches! With a pool table and dart board, in a family friendly atmosphere, we have something for everyone!
It's my Monday Margarita place and they're STILL BIG, tasty and ONLY $4 ALL night. I paired it with a special burger that IF I remember properly had green apples, bacon and cheese BUT tasted awesome. This one came with fires standard as well as a pickle. I have some problem remembering because I HAD TWO Margaritas this particular time. You'll just have to trust me when I say they're worth it. I've NEVER been disappointed with either the drinks or the food anytime I've eaten here.

We had a group of 16, 4 separate families so we were nervous. The hostesses were very accommodating and sweet. We were setup with 2 waitresses and all needed separate checks. They acted like it was no problem at all! Our waitress was Claire, she was super fast, sweet, helpful and just absolutely wonderful! Even our kids commented on what a great waitress she was. The food was ok, not bad, not over the top amazing, but priced well and the beer was excellent! Thank you for a wonderful dining experience!!!Thank you for the excellent review! Weâre glad you enjoyed your visit!

Thank you once again Trip Adviser reviewers for pointing us in the right direction. Valcour Brewery is a yummy place to stop for a beer and a burger. Behold, the Wilbur. A burger with pulled pork, onion rings, and cheese curd. Total yumminess. Combine this with a perfect pint of your favorite beer and great service and what more can you ask for?
