Find out what Pub restaurants to try in Papamoa. Papamoa Beach is a suburb of Tauranga, located about 11 kilometres from the city centre. It is the largest residential suburb in Tauranga, having a population of 20,091 at the 2013 census. It is bordered to the west by Mount Maunganui (east of Sunrise Avenue and Hibiscus Avenue), the east by the Kaituna River (separating it from the Western Bay of Plenty District) and to the south by State Highway 2. Papamoa Beach has 16km of white sandy beach stretching from the boundary with Mount Maunganui in the west to the Kaituna River in the east. Widespread settlement of the area did not start until the early 1980s and prior to this Papamoa Beach had been largely a rural area. Once a small and tight knit community, many of Papamoa Beach's sweeping paddocks have been swallowed up by urban development. Papamoa Beach is currently one of the fastest growing suburbs of Tauranga, with many different subdivisions developing concurrently on different blocks of land on the fringes of the suburb.

We loved the old Hop House in Mt Maunganui. The new one in a beautiful old building in Wharf Street Tauranga CBD is even better. Cool decor, great selection of craft beers, top notch food and excellent service. Donât miss steak night on Wednesday or the $15 Sunday roast. This place is up there with the very best craft beer pubs we have been in Sydney, Melbourne and Perth. Congratulations and cheers David. Thanks so much Kanadong. It is really encouraging to hear such positive views about our bar. We love what we do and to give so many people such a positive experience makes us want to do more. Lots of new stuff coming so hopefully it won't be too long until we see you again.cheersDavid

Came here as recommended by the brother in law and definitely impressed. Love me some chilli and beer and this place does not disappoint!A nice ambience with beer brewing in the rear, indoor and outdoor seating and what looks to be a separate private area for functions. I had the pork buns and curly fries with my mermaids mirth beer (quite sensational) and could have had 2 or 3 more helpings of different things. Only thing I would say is it doesnât appear they have many staff to service the very busy times, so expect a bit of a wait in line when ordering (no table service).I will be back!

A large group of us went for dinner, we all agreed it was average, and would not rush back. It was a busy night and the food arrived in good time, but one meal arrived alot later than the others, after asking twice, with no explanation, obviously missed. The service was also average from the waitress, food nothing to write home about. Better places in Tauranga to go to.Hi BarbaraNZ08, thank you for your feedback. We're sorry to read your recent visit with us was average. This is not the customer experience we pride ourselves on delivering, busy or not. We can only address a staff members service or rectify a situation if our Manager on Duty is advised at the time. Our Managers are trained and dedicated and do need to be addressed to recover any dissatisfaction. We would of course like to invite you back and ask that you please notify the Manager on shift or owner upon your return so that we can ensure you leave feeling great. We would also like to know which booking you were to better address your comments and know how we could have enhanced the experience. Please consider to email: [email protected] Thanks, The Phoenix Team

We were excited to have a local restaurant open just around the corner and have now tried it several times hoping they were just having teething problems. The decor is lovely but the overall atmosphere leaves a lot to be desired. The staff lack energy and sometimes are downright rude - not welcoming or friendly at all. Last night there were four young girls behind the bar none of whom were in a hurry to serve us. In the end the manager came past and asked if we needed help. The menu is average - definitely didn't match the expectations I had after seeing the beautiful presentation of the restaurant itself. The whole place needs a rev up

The Papamoa Beach Tavern is the heart of the Papamoa Community. Welcoming a diverse range of punters through its colourful doors each day greeting every visitor with a great range of cold beer and delicious food. Full of warm beachy vibes and good times t
Have had dinner here a few times. Much better to come on one if the nights they have specials, like 2 for 1 pizzas. Usually have to wait a while for food, but it is pretty giid for pub style food. Like the choices of beers and cider, probably at the upper limit of what im prepared to pay though. The outdoor area definitely makes it family friendly.

A special celebratory lunchtime treat turned into utter disappointment sadly. We all ordered Market Fish @ $36 which was supposed to be pan fried with a creamy sauce. What we received was wet fish in a spicy broth, with gnocchi and a few scallops. Definitely not up to the standard expected or previously enjoyed at this restaurant/bar.Change of chef perhaps, but we all agreed that our meals were below par and certainly not as the menu suggested.
