I didn't know what to expect in a pub seemingly in the middle of nowhere and was delighted with the menu, which was an assortment of traditional pub fare, local meats, and lovely puddings (desserts). It's a busy place so call for a reservation. Service may be a tad slow due to the busyness, however it's a great opportunity to soak in the ambiance of this old building. I left wanting to go back for a second and possibly third meal however only went on my last evening so couldn't :(

On a recent visit to Barrow friends took me for Sunday Lunch to The Crown at North Scale. My friends pre-booked a table as it is a very popular location for meals, especially Sunday lunch. Staff were friendly and efficient and we spent a pleasant hour and a half enjoying the relaxed atmosphere. The food was well prepared, tasty and definitely plentiful. I ordered the shrimp cocktail which came with enough shrimp for two â but being somewhat of a pig I managed to eat the whole lot. For the main course I chose the Roast Beef Sunday Lunch which came with mashed and roast potatoes, Yorkshire pudding, a variety of veggies, gravy and five or six slices of tender roast beef. They certainly donât stint on the amount they serve on the plate and itâs all totally delicious.Iâll definitely be returning on my next trip to Barrow.

We visited the Brown Cow on Sunday evening. We were seated upstairs, there were a couple of other tables full, the atmosphere was quite flat up there though. Service was quick and friendly. For starters I had the pate which came with chutney, toast and some salad. The pate was really tasty, I thoroughly enjoyed this starter! My husband and daughter shared chicken strips and garlic bread, again both garnished with a little fresh salad. The both really enjoyed theirs, especially the chicken strips. For mains I had Mexican chicken which came with chips, it was really tasty, but I only managed about half the portion and a couple of chips. My husband had lamb shank, he said it was cooked well & very tasty. My daughter had chicken tikka masala- the potion was huge! She orders this meal quite often when we go out, however, she did say the curry had a funny taste on it, like tangy. Anyway she probably ate a quarter of the dish as it was so big. In summary, the service was friendly, itâs s nice little pub, the food was good, just too much of it! If we ever passed through Dalton again, we would return and just have a main from the small portion menu.

After a 15km walk it was a perfect place to stop to warm up, get a tasty meal and recharge. The puddings were especially devine! Good selection of dishes for mains. Would go back.
Visited whilst camping at harbour lights.. nice place to sit and watch the water sports, dog friendly and great place to catch the rays only down fall for me was it was abit dirty. The wooden tables needed a clean as they wer very sticky with alcohol and food also needed a good sweep up.. broke the evening up though nipping over for a visit from the camp.

Came here after work for the takeaway burger and chips deal. We stayed for a pint whilst we were waiting. Good tasting beer in nice authentic settings. The food was amazing, the burger meat was obviously quality and tasted amazing and the chips were just beautiful. Would recommend this to everyone.

A warm and welcoming real ale pub, wine and cafe bar in a beautiful part of the southwest Lakes. The Punch Bowl is a laid-back, country Inn in the best traditions and we'll always try to accommodate our customers wishes...if you want something...there's n
We were camping and it was raining hard so decided to escape to a pub for a meal. The pub is beautiful inside with a lovely friendly atmosphere. Very dog friendly. There is a limited menu which I think is a good thing that places focus on what they do well. The sharing platter starter was delicious. The mains - steak for me and steak and ale pie for the husband were good just not quite five stars. Just a bit of a lack of gravy in the pie and no veg with the steak. The sticky toffee pudding was also delicious.

My husband and I came here for a meal to celebrate our wedding anniversary. We enjoyed a couple of drinks outside on the upstairs terrace initially, which was lovely, then ate in the bar area downstairs.Food (3 courses) was amazing - especially the scotch egg!
